SECCG game day post

Okay, it’s on now.

I’m still convinced the SECCG comes down to the play on the line of scrimmage.  If Georgia’s o-line can create space for its backs to run and the d-line can hold its own without requiring additional help, we’ll have ourselves a game. If not…

Put it this way:  if the score stays in the twenties, I like Georgia’s chances, but if it climbs into the thirties, definitely not so much.

I think the intangibles favor Georgia, to an extent.  Having your back against the wall can be an excellent motivator, but if the game starts slipping away, it won’t help.  Same thing with the crowd, which by most accounts I’ve seen should be favoring the local boys.  But this is a battle tested LSU squad that’s already gone in to Baton Rouge and scored a big win, so I’m not sure all that counts for too much.

The one intangible I do like is that this team has been in this position before and played well.  The one I don’t like is the tendency to fade in the fourth quarter.  Smart needs to get over that hump today.

One other big deal — Georgia simply cannot turn the ball over against LSU.  It’s going to be hard enough keeping up with that dynamic offense; giving away a couple of possessions will be deadly for its chances.  There’s nothing more I’d like to be able to say after today that in games when Fromm didn’t throw a pick, Georgia went 12 for 12.

Have at it in the comments.  See y’all on the other side.

Well, Fromm is off…He’s missing wide open receivers.. Maybe just jitters but at this stage it certainly shouldn’t be.
I think he needs to take a hit. I’d have him run it a couple of times.
But believe it or not…what I think doesn’t matter.

This is going about how I thought it would. If UGA had a QB that didn’t suck, they may not be getting their asses beat already in the first quarter.

Jake and Tyler need to move on and let UGA do its own thing for the bowl game.

Im done. Burrow is just too good. And then we have to watch Fromm when we get the ball. What is he doing??? Damn, Kirby. Why cant you get and keep a good QB. Obviously, you cannot compete with defense alone. It’s worthless in a big game without a big time QB that can win games. I’d feel much better if i thought Kirby was capable of seeing that. If Fields wins the Natty, Kirby will have completed the greatest Georgia Way move in history. Take that, Richt! But I must end this with our defense has done a great job. Love those guys! But waiting on this offense to produce is like waiting on an oak tree to grow.

It just isn’t our day…LSU is a better team, but Georgia being so depleted on offense…and Old Lady Luck has been a mean witch today and she’s an LSU whore. The real story has been LSU’s defense..
But one question…at one time Georgia had a second and one in decent field postion. Isn’t that the prescribed time for a deep throw? What did Georgia do on second and one? Yep. Ran it between the tackles for nothing.

Shout-out to all the Disney Dawgs who honestly thought something different was going to happen. Our offense is hilariously awful. Kirby should fire Coley during halftime and just let Fromm and Swift call their own damn plays for the second half. It couldn’t possibly be any worse. But instead, we’ll get to see about a dozen more runs up the middle for a yard or two. Followed by inaccurate passes on 3rd and 7.

This game won’t be complete until Pickens makes some amazing catch early in the second half … only to then get into another fight and kicked out of the game. Fromm will continue to miss open guys. And by the time our offense actually starts clicking, LSU will be up 31-3 and it won’t even matter. I predicted 41-10 yesterday, and at this point, I stand by that.

The entire offensive coaching staff needs to go. And as much as I hate to admit it: our defense is really not great, it’s just lucky. We’re the statistical beneficiaries of inept opponents. And now that we’re playing a competent offensive team, we’re getting shredded.

Hey, at least Georgia basketball is sort of entertaining this season!

    Like

  48. Uglydawg

This isn’t to say that it would be making a whole lot of difference…but the one time Georgia was moving the ball…HUNH…..low and behold, an LSU player went down for free time out. That killed the drive and we got a measly 3. We have seen team after team after team do this to Georgia. And it’s always a drive killer…I suppose cheating pays. If I’m Kirby, I’m getting as many injury time outs as I need on offense and defense in the second half. He needs to tell the SEC that he will join in the cheating if they can’t find a way to stop it.
(Giving the offensive team the option of putting thirty seconds back on the clock penalty yardage would help). True injury or not..they may have to do something like this.

Ive never met a successful business owner who is having the reaction you are tonight. Seriously, if you aren’t in perfect health with great physique, don’t have great personal/social relationships, don’t have a really solid career, etc….then dude, you need to take a long hard look in the mirror and revaluate your misguided priorities in life.

UGA football has no meaningful effect on your life; you have no affect on UGA football. Let it go.

Wow. Ok. I will just say two things. One: I own a small business that grosses 7 figures handling x ray and Mri equipment for a manufacturer. It isn’t a big business and i am not “rich”. Two: fuck you and your indignation. I am 49 and weigh 189lbs. Fuck you dude. Come to Greenwood, SC and call me at (864) 941-7345 and I will kick your ass up and down the road. Bring it.

I love your passion, Brother. No need to knuckle up, we’re all in the suck on this one. You got to embrace it. The Fighting Eds were gifted tonight, and I’m pretty sure there’s a Voodoo Doll toting asshole out there poking pins in his Jake doll ……

Lay off Grantham… it’s Saturday night, it’s a blog, you’re on here too! He’s clearly not out drunk driving or killing someone.

      lol – seriously. Good post.
It is still pretty amazing to get pantsed so completely with roughly equal talent between two teams.
I’ve never seen a player regress more than Fromm, it’s just uncanny.
      But…we scored a T O U C H D O W N ! ! !

Again, no problem with spirited discussion. I’m talking about those who clearly are losing their shit over this loss. Big, big difference.

Will somebody tell that stupid OC and receivers coach those sideline pass are not working…all damn season.
Their defenders ride us to the boundary.
So tell me fans how do you put the ball in their.
You have to create so space of that sideline and never let the defender put you there.
And for all that is said about our O line it is too heavy and over rated.
Maybe one day we will have a legit QB
    Another huge dissappointment for us.
Sick and damn tired of it.

This sucks. On the other hand, we could be USC; the geniuses who kept Clay Helton and dumped Coach O. That would suck even more.

We have been making fun of Coach O since Ole Miss but at least that ole dog has learned some new tricks and now he is going to the big dance. I think Kirby is just too hard headed to make the changes needed.
