The continuing adventures of always be ‘crootin’

Ultimately, only one of these narratives can prove true.

A source close to South Carolina told ESPN the coaching staff is still feeling confident in keeping Burch committed until February, and that there is a good possibility Burch just wanted to sign his paperwork with the rest of his teammates in February.

According to a different source, Alabama, Georgia and LSU have been in contact with Burch, still trying to recruit him. Had Burch signed his national letter of intent, it would have prevented opposing coaches from communicating with him.

Who you betting on here?

South Carolina may still feel confident, but the idea that Burch suddenly decided to wait until February so he could sign alongside other classmates seems like hot air.

Buck Belue and Lindsay Scott almost signed elsewhere. Herschel signed weeks after NSD, nobody knew when he would choose, or where. Burch probably has a mlilion people trying to tell him what to do. I’m sure it’s very stressful. Hope he chooses us, but I hope he does what HE wants, not what everyone else wants

Just FWIW, I raised this issue on Twitter, and the replies said that Hammond High School has some kind of rule, and two other Hammond recruits had done the same thing.

I have read/heard that as a reason as well but, it seems very odd that an independent school association would be able to enforce that in any way. How can SCISA tell a student when he/she can sign an LOI? How can that organization supersede the NCAA?

There is no “rule.” Hammond recruits cannot enroll in college early, but the school can’t stop kids from signing during the early signing period. Anyone telling you otherwise is doing damage control.

On other ‘cruitin’ news, I saw where Zach Evans was sent home from the championship game for team rules violation. The team still won. That’s the second time he was suspended from the team this season. Seems like a great talent, but we don’t need discipline distractions. Maybe they’re hoping Milton and some of the others will help him grow up? I’m still worried about Pickens’ maturity. Hopefully they see the light and don’t screw up a golden opportunity.

Evans concerns me from that standpoint as well. I worry he would be a distraction and disrupt team chemistry. Chubb and Michel were great talents but also good teammates and that was allowed them to excel more so than their talent in my opinion.

Clowney did the same thing, IIRC. I think the door is still open. If the Under Armour game announcements go (largely) in our favor, it’ll be very interesting.

  10. I think SC still gets him. He can be an impact player on his home state team while at UGA, Bammer or LSU, he’d probably be waiting in line.

I think the whole signing with his friends thing is bullshit. I think all the buzz about his school not allowing early signees is also bullshit. I think he wants to go to LSU or most likely Georgia but his mother wants him home. In the end I expect Momma to let go.

The Burch family is trying to figure out which contract is the better offer… i mean which school is better academically. Pay no attention to all those 000000’s.
Hopefully our bid package is more attractive.
