The Kings of New Year’s

I wonder how much of the media is going to swallow the “hey, 8-5 Texas is back, babee!” narrative this offseason.

UPDATE:  Man, where have I heard this before?

Well, they’ve done it with Auburn for years, so, yeah, it’s a thing.

  3. We’ve had our moments as well.

1998 – The Wisconsin Demolition … came crashing down to earth 10 months later when 10rc whipped us in front of GameDay.
2000 – The Outback Comeback … Jim Donnan was fired 11 months later after his “I’ve waited 50 years to coach’s team like this” comment.
2008 – The Hawaii Bombing … The funeral was 9 months later for the Alabama Blackout.
2012 – The Nebraska Pounding … can crashing down on the Kneeland turf 10 months later.

I’m normally a glass half full guy when it comes to Georgia football, but we’ve definitely had some underachievement after a New Year’s bowl game win.

  4. Wait — I thought Georgia was supposed to be the only team who lost its conference championship and a playoff spot and came out unmotivated to play in its bowl game. You mean other teams can do that too?

    Who’d have thought that? /s

Watching Utah get run over on the line of scrimmage and remembering all the hot air CFB Chairman Mullins wasted on how awesome they were was strangely satisfying.

Texas has lost at least four games in each of the last 10 seasons. How is that even possible with their talent base, resources, and conference?

There is probably no team in football (maybe including the pros) that has the money behind it that Texas has (and the willingness to use it). Couple that with the talent pool in the state and it is absolutely mind boggling that they have been as inept as they are for as long as they have. Must be something in the water out here because the same could be said for the Dallas Cowboys

        Same problem for both.

People with more money than football sense poking their noses where they don’t belong.

Dabo and Saban won their football programs right now. Texas is renting Herman. Makes all the difference in the world when it comes to demanding the attention of the players and building a culture of winning. Kirby is mostly there with Dabo and Saban, just needs more experience.

Living amongst a horde of Texas alumni and Cowboys fans, you have the same take they do. Too may wealthy alumni that interfere with UT and a too wealthy owner for the Cowboys who values recognition for himself above winning (Hence the Jimmy Johnson firing).

I hope 2020 is a fantastic year for you and all Bulldogs that participate with GTP!

Herman reminds me of Jim Donnan. Inexplicble loses during the season, but wins the bowl game.

Both dreading seeing us without 15 players, and excited to see the running back combo of Zeus, Cook, and McIntosh, plus to see what type of chip the remaining players can bring. Hard to be optimistic, but I am hopeful.

What the hell was Disney doing putting both early games at 1PM? Why not stagger them to at least an hour apart, if not more. There is nothing on to divert CFB fans’ eyes. If I were an advertiser I would be all over their group, would be impossible to not gain some consumers for 60-90 minutes. God forbid anyone get within 30 minutes if the Rose Bowl kickoff. Even starting the Sugar Bowl 3-45 minutes early in case the Rose is a stinker. Has been this way for many years, but still baffling.

Sorry, don’t see the connection. It is a very cool place, and setting, but viewers want options. Every Rose Bowl isn’t a great game, nor is every Citrus, Outback, Sugar, etc. It is a game on TV for 99% of those who watch, very view are attending live, and they could care less what is on TV.
