Best of luck to him. Dude can recruit his face off. Maybe being under Jumbo will help him develop his OC skills.

These past two weeks may be the most confident I’ve been in Kirby. I didn’t think he’d do it, but he did. Wow.

Wish him the very best and thankful for the work he did at UGA.

Not sorry to see him go. Good recruiters are easier to find than good coaches. Those that can do both are unicorns. I want more unicorns and less people like Coley or Hankton. If we can’t find more unicorns, then always go with the better coach.

Is Hankton still in Athens?

One of the most striking differences between this coach and our last coach right here.

I wouldn’t worry about losing Coley as a recruiter. He’s already been replaced by something better …. an offense the kids want to be a part of.

This is my sentiment, too. I’ve been worried all year that recruiting would be hampered by the ‘offensive’ offense we were running. Kudos to Kirby!

Well….that answers that, doesn’t it?

One thing about it. Kirby is your employer not your friend.

Glad that Kirby had the good sense to follow the advice of GTP had its commenters. He has made pretty much all of the changes that we asked for. Does that mean if UGA falls short next year we are to blame?!

It means he wants to win, and is willing to make changes in scheme to try to win. Now, will he stop the play not to lose garbage in the second half of games or in game planning for the tough opponents? That’s the next thing he needs to prove. These changes finally give me hope again. So I hope he can.

Nah. We’ll just blame the players for failing to execute or Kirby for recruiting the wrong 5 stars.

So of course the questions beg:
1) Is this the last exit?
2) or, will Kirby continue to spin the black circle?
3) ..in search of a better man?

I’m somewhat torn. He’s helped this program to be highly successful again and I’ll certainly hate to lose his recruiting. I do believe big changes were needed, though, and hopefully someone else will keep that South Georgia connection. Good luck to him.
It’s crazy to think that Kirby has lost almost every single coach from his original staff and after only 4 seasons.

Coley is a great example of the Peter Principle in action. Some people should never be promoted no matter how well they are doing at their present level. Give them performance raises but don’t put them in a position to fail.

When you have to fire someone, you both lose.

So does the new analyst from So Miss get that slot or is Kirby chasing someone else? If it is him that $100K pay cut had a short shelf life, didn’t it?

Hired as a TE coach by his good friend, who calls all the playsso he’s lucky to get a job. Looks like a Saban School of Reputation Repair hire.

Jimbo, Smart and Coley were all in Baton Rouge at the same time under Saban. Coley was a Grad Assistant.

So there’s still an opening for a coach?
