Man, I don’t know where Patrick Garbin unearths some of the stuff he posts, but this is certainly a treat.
I’m sure that encounter went about as well as last year’s Tech game did. And this year’s, too, hopefully. 404, baby!

Old-School #Dawgs Pic of the Week
For #cleanoldfashionedhate in 2020, it won’t be GT HC Geoff Collins’ 1st appearance at Sanford Stadium… Here, Collins, a junior safety at Western Carolina, attempts to take down @garrisonhearst5 in the 1991 season opener—a 48-0 Bulldog victory: pic.twitter.com/3AcPdxmale

This is the first game I ever attended at Sanford Stadium. I was 13 and moved to Athens the previous June. Go Dawgs!

Absolutely classic Hearst pose

Collins can hype that as “the coolest missed tackle ever!”

Still maybe the best Georgia RB at getting to the sideline and outrunning everyone to the endzone. Imagine a couple of Goff’s offenses with Kirby’s defense.

That #34 guy was pretty good at it, too.

NIce photo, but there’s more. Because of a friendly, pre-game bet Hearst had to take #5 to the Waffle House. Collins fell for the waitress and later married her (another story). I learned about this from an Athens dentist.

Sorry, I meant to add to my story …. “Now you know where all the hate comes from”.

Oh no! We’ve created another Captain Ahab the likes we haven’t seen since SOS. Under Geoffy’s enlightened, genius, vengeful leadership the Dawgs are destined to go 1-11 against the rejuvenated mighty maggots and we’ve already filled the one win. Woe unto Dawg Nation.

Does Collins have a neck? He always looks as if his head is connected directly to his shoulders.

Was Garrison posing for the Heisman? Great form.

Isn’t Western Carolina the Tantamounts or the Gadabouts or the Panamints or the Cattleprods or something creepy like that?

Who says the safety was tackling anyone…Mr. Hearst is seen giving the “just lay down hand/hip signal”…

He should have won the Heisman Trophy. Hearst.. not Collins.

The ‘91 team had a nice upset win over Clemson at home the same night as the Braves won the western division – even the Dawg fans were chopping during the game. Great day to be a Georgia sports fan.
Secondly, Hearst doesn’t get his due as one of the great UGA backs but he should, and that ‘92 team was a couple plays and breaks away from being a title contender. But we weren’t and that’s why this is ultimately a game of inches.

Didn’t Paul Johnson go to Western Carolina too? Here’s hoping Geoff has a similar level of success against the Dawgs.
