“I don’t know,” he laughs, “if that’s good or bad.”

I don’t know which is a greater indication of the mediocrity of college athletic directors, that Charlie Weis kept getting paid absurd amounts of money for little production, or this.

At least, for a time, he stopped failing up.

We’ll see if this job leads to another opportunity that doesn’t match his performance, but it wouldn’t shock me if he ended up coach of the Cowboys next….for 7 whole games.

It’s Weis. Kiffin has been slightly above average as a college head coach so far. He’s a dickhead, but that’s another matter.

I look forward to the 2020 season so I can enjoy close up what the PAC 12 have had, the Laner and the Pirate. The football gods are smiling on the SEC media and bloggers.

I clicked on the Don’t Mess With Lane Kiffin link to see what prompted that name for all Kiffin related material. Holy shite. There are so many Kiffin related posts you could have a Lane Kiffin spin-off blog. The best part was the very first post in 2008 that poses the question, “so how big of a prick is this Kiffin fellow” or something to that effect. He was blowing up the Raiders and salting their fields back then. 12 years later and the question is still being answered.

P.T. Barnum said it best “There’s a sucker born every minute”. Apparently quite a few of them became big time college AD’s

  6. The “Lane Train” sounds an awful lot like the “Gus Bus”. Not very original.

Again, all I know is SEC Media Days are going to be so much better this year. Welcome Lane and Mike. It will at least be entertaining to have you all in the SEC fold for as long as it lasts.

Ask Big Vol Daddy too. He got it right in 2009.

Does that tweet say he’s on “his fifth head job”?

They don’t make writers like they used to, I suppose.

At least Lane provides great off the field entertainment. Cheeseburger Charlie might as well have been a tree stump, although that quote about providing “a decided schematic advantage” at Notre Dame will end up as the epitaph on his gravestone.

Joey Freshwater wins even when he loses.
