Agent Muschamp is the new Agent Muschamp.

Wheels within wheels, baby.

The Georgia Bulldogs added another piece of the 2020 puzzle on the eve of National Signing Day. Jackson Muschamp, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound quarterback out of Columbia, South Carolina, has verbally committed to Kirby Smart as a preferred walk-on quarterback after taking an official visit this past weekend to Athens. He is the oldest son of South Carolina head coach and former UGA football captain, Will Muschamp

In the end, the chance to play his college days in Athens was too much to pass on.

“Just thinking about it more, that opportunity to go to Georgia, and I have always wanted to go there,” he said.”They never really stopped recruiting me since I went to camp there last summer. It was just an opportunity I could not really pass up. I am fortunate enough to be in a situation where I could go walk on somewhere like Georgia in the first place. I am super excited about it.”

Any decision on his college future was going to be supported by his family and especially by his Dad.

“He was super happy for me. We kind of decided a long time ago that I was going to kind of do my own thing and blaze my own trail, no matter where he was coaching,” he said.”He knows I love Georgia and how much I wanted to be there, and he was ok with me doing whatever I wanted to do. He was happy when I committed to Colorado State, but he also supports my decision to go to Georgia.”

Muschamp will report shortly after graduating in late May.

“I am going to Georgia to work and compete. I will do whatever I am asked to do, to make the team better,” he said.”I am definitely going there to compete. I am so excited about it. I have always wanted to go to Georgia.”

You have to appreciate his taste, at least.  Should make for some interesting dinner chatter around the Thanksgiving table at the Muschamp house.  For that matter, it should make for some interesting chatter on the recruiting trail for Kirby Smart.

What’s the over/under on the number of paranoid Georgia fans who fret about what info Jackson’s passing back to daddy?

Muschamp didn’t need any info from his son last year to beat UGA.

  2. If he’s a walk on he’ll likely be scout team QB? Maybe he’s been flipped as a double-double agent to infiltrate the Muschamp camp.

Muschamp couldn’t beat Kirby for his own son, who’s now going somewhere will has oubkucally trashed since he was hired at Florida. And the kid has had an up lose view of Chikinball for 4 years, but bailed for Athens.

Is it possible he’s bringing a friend? 😀

It’s a bit peculiar. He was going to Colorado State obviously to be coached by Mike Bobo. I never really believed Jon Richt was worthy of that Clemson scholly either. Nothing wrong with coaches helping each other’s kids out.

I’m glad the kid gets come to Georgia as a preferred walk on.

If Will puts any pressure on his son for insider information then he is a bigger pos than I have ever imagined.

    Jordan Burch on line two…

  7. Here’s hoping that a 56-7 rout against USC in Columbia is punctuated this year by a last minute TD run by QB Jackson Muschamp.

The first part of that is a very realistic outcome. The last part of your dream scenario is just that, but man would that be sweet. If it were to happen, it would go down as one of my all time favorite UGA highlights.

    oubkucally ?

Yeah, but he’s not on scholarship. How’s he going to afford out of state tuition?

The kid must be pretty smart. Muschamps days at SC could be numbered so why should his son take a chance and be left alone in Columbia?

That is probably closer to true than most of the other reasons. When (not if) Muschamp gets canned, father and son will probably reunited. Since Muschamp is friends with Kirby, I’m sure there is a support staff or analyst job waiting. He will be checked into the Kirby Smart location of the “Institute for the Rehabilitation of Fired and Disgraced Coaches” (a franchised branch of the original Saban location)

Despite what some of you jokers may think you know about Muschamp, he is all Dawg.

  12. I know we are supposed to hate the enemy, but I like this story. These guys have to engage in a certain amount of theater to placate the masses like us. But obviously there is some mutual respect there between Kirby and Muschamp, otherwise he would never entrust his first-born to Georgia. Muschamp has played the roles he has had to play to remain employed, like we all do. To me it says a lot about the kid that he passed up a full scholly to come to his Dad’s alma mater. It says a lot about Kirby and Will, too. Maybe I’m getting soft in my old age, but I think this is a great development.

As long as we beat South Carolina.
