The Portal Master scores a recruiter.

I hate to admit it, but this is a good move by Dan Mullen.

Brewster’s a mediocre coach, but he can flat out recruit.

This seems a little late to the punch, but there’s always next year, Dan!

Was surprised to see Tenn #7 and FU #8 ranked at Rivals. Hoo boy!

If Pruitt can keep his mouth and hands in check and not get fired, I worry more about them than the ‘Turds. He seems to have the work ethic like Kirby to build a team. He does not have the product to sell that Kirby does, but it will certainly be more of a challenge in head to heads with 10rc. Mullen on the other hand will always Mullen and be good but not good enough. Hard to recruit from Lake Oconee.

I’m borrowing a quote by Josh Helmholdt at Rivals when he discusses winners and losers yesterday. Like Casey at the Bat, Mullen swung and missed all day. Just love the sound of that.

And today he gets himself a recruiter. To quote an SEC coach after last year’s recruiting, “even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in a while”. Guess we will be Mullen that over all this year. Maybe Finebaum convinced him to not talk trash about Georgia as he did last year when Finebaum visited him.

Speaking of recruiting, anyone else find it curious that the 5* hasn’t signed with USC yet? Is it a bagman issue? Is he waiting to see who is the highest bidder?

I heard it theorized that the recruit and his mom don’t see eye to eye on where he will play. My guess is mom wants him at SCe where she can keep an eye on him and the kid wants to leave.

  6. Richt had good recruiters. Bobo. McClendon. But just putting one stud on a staff that doesn’t have it gushing down from the top isn’t gonna matter.

Portal Master is definitely a goober but he’s not stupid; he knows you either adapt or die in this business. As much as I’d like to see Georgia continue to whoop ass while we’re miles ahead, the gators are more likely to make up lost ground than they are to flounder. They will get better, but we’re not going anywhere.

Coach bails the day after signing day. So ethical.

It’s only been about 20 minutes since yet another member of the wonderful college football coaching fraternity decided to rant and rave about how kids today are too entitled. That means it’s almost time for another one of those enjoyable “paternalistic hypocrite gets on soapbox” moments.

Yay coaches! You really are the gods you think you are! Yay!

I get what you’re saying, but people bitched about Dantonio leaving a day before signing day. So when is it okay for coaches to leave? Whenever they leave, it’s going to affect recruits/players. Not trying to be snarky, I’m seriously wondering when the best time is for a coach to leave.

He did at least 3 of the recruits a favor when they announced they weren’t signing, further, former Georgia player Simmons (blocked Al punt that was erroneously called back in NC game) had something to say Tues night that seems to have stopped his brother’s commit to MSU. Maybe Dantonio was trying to do them a favor since he may have been kicked out later concerning the NCAA’s glare at the two players and the culture there. That could stop bowl play for a while.

Fair point. When is it OK. Like Spurrier in September or like Stoops in August?

When? How about when they stop talking about how nobody else should ever leave? Or when their unpaid labor is given a little bit of transfer freedom?

I’m a little late for yesterday’s lexicon suggestion post, but we could christen Mullen something close to ‘Portal Master’. How about ‘Porta John Master’?

I’m not sure I agree with your assessment about Tim Brewster Senator. I think he is a good position coach but not a good head coach. Good recruiter though.
