I don’t know if college football’s most talent-rich teams are getting richer.

But it sure looks like they’re staying richer.

By the way, is it just me, or does Bud mention Georgia a fair amount there?  Not that that’s a bad thing…

  1. As I stated in the other thread, I do believe the rich are getting richer and it all goes back to recruiting.

  2. We could have the chicken or the egg discussion but being talent rich is making programs richer in other ways, too.

In the past Schools relied on the dog and pony shows of great recruiters. Kirby Smart is utilizing marketing tools. He’s building the Georgia brand to the point that it’s the ultimate recruiter. Anyone representing the “G” will recruit successfully because UGA is the place to be for high profile football. It’s a holistic, organizational approach that includes Athens and the fan base.
It’s why we’re getting the best players out of so many states.
Florida, for example, just hired an excellent recruiting coordinator, but they won’t catch Georgia because their brand is tarnished and good individual recruiters can’t overcome the UGA brand. Kirby is doing a phenomenal job.

So the most rant rich teams over a two year period are Georgia and somebody, over a three year period are Georgia and somebody and somebody else, over a 4 year period are Georgia and 3 other somebodies….Are you seeing a pattern here?
