  1. I thought it was apparent to everyone that Monken was going to coach the QBs when he was hired and especially after Coley left for A&M and Kirby hired Cochran in an on-field position.

Then why is Faulkner still here taking a pay cut? Any got some thoughts on this?

    • I think Faulkner is going to slot into Hartley’s slot as tight ends coach if Hartley leaves for another position over the next year. I have no idea other than the relationship with Monken of why he would leave a job and take a cut unless there was a mutual parting.

      • Admiral Sackbar

Or even to take Monken’s job should he be very successful as our OC. From what I’ve read, Todd is looking to eventually be a head coach again at the college level and it makes sense to have a successor in waiting if he leaves after 2-3 seasons.

IIRC, he was making 150K as OC. He is taking the job that Jay Johnson used to do. Jay now makes $975K as the OC for Michigan State. Dan Lanning and Monken are going to need OCs when they leave for HC positions… assuming he doesn’t get the UGA job. You also get the benefit, real and market perception, or working for a guy that runs a program like Kirby. It may be a short term cut in pay, but this job is likely much better for his long term earning prospects.

Quick question. If there is not college football played this fall, would that make UCF National Champions?

    • Pre season Heisman would be handed out to Auburn QB, UF automatically beats UGA because coaching/3 starts with 5 star hearts/transfer portal mastery/UGA disruption in lineup because 5 stars need to replace 5 stars…

  5. I’m kinda surprised considering Faulkner took a pay cut to come here and he seems like a good QB coach. Did he just want to be with a better program THAT badly?
