I guess Bo knows he ain’t gettin’ to heaven the Heisman ceremony on Gus Malzahn’s coaching alone.

The posters here keep tagging on Nix. When I look at Nix I see the son of a coach who also played QB. I see a kid who started at QB at a major college as a freshman. I see a guy who threw for over 2500 yards and 16 TDs his freshman year and beat Bama. Yeah, he’s a shitty QB alright.
He finished ninth in the conference with a 125.03 passer rating, and was even worse against FBS competition. Let’s not elect him to the Hall of Fame just yet, Mayor.
He was a FRESHMAN Senator. What were Murray’s stats his freshman year?
Good enough to finish fourth in passer rating in the SEC.
Fromm finished second, by the way.
Fromm was 2615 yards and a passer rating of 160. Nix wasn’t far off that. I didn’t say Nix was the second coming of Davey O’Brien. I said he was a decent QB as a freshman. I expect him to be better his second year. Looking around the conference I don’t see a lot of other teams with returning better QBs. I still think Trask is going to end up a bust. Mac Jones? Jury still out. ATM QB is better. Missy State? Their transfer from Stanford is pretty good. UT? Arky? Vandy? UK? USC? Who cares? None of them are any good.My point is the Nix kid is better than we on GTP are giving him credit for being and is one of the top returning QBs in the conference.
If you think a passer rating of 126 is “not that far off” from 160, I got nothing in response.
2500 isn’t far off 2615. That’s what I was saying.
That likely means lots of YAC
Auburn got the benefit of 2 pick 6s and a missed tying chip shot field goal. That’s the reason they won. Nix was a 50% passer with 44 yards rushing in that game.
Gus’s rabbit foot had more to do with winning that game than Bo Nix.
Winning football games, particularly against Bama, is all luck. Nix had over 200 yards total offense in that game and didn’t turn the ball over (as I recall). Go back and watch the replay, particularly Auburn’s final scoring drive. Take a look at the completed passes particularly the final TD pass. Yeah, Nix had nothing to do with Auburn winning.
Mayor, my point is without the pick 6s, that game isn’t close. Bama dominated that game everywhere except the scoreboard (sort of like our fluke loss to South Carolina). Auburn got two breaks that directly produced 14 points and Nix made a play at the end.
I loath anything Auburn (cheating bastards) but I do believe that Nix played well for a true frosh and is going to have a breakout season this year, if we have one. Kid is good and I’m afraid Auburn (cheating bastards) will be as well.
My point exactly. I like driving in my truck as much as anybody but I don’t put my head in the sand while I’m doing it.
P.S. While the Senator may find it funny (Ha ha) that the Auburn QB is getting instruction from Jordan Palmer and working out with Joe Burrow and Sam Darnold I as a UGA alum do not find that amusing at all.
PS — It’s cool that you’ve completely missed the target of my mockery.
I guess I’m just a dumbass. Who are you mocking? Jordan Palmer for teaching Nix? Joe Burrow for working out with him? Me for having the audacity to say the kid is actually a pretty good QB? Over my head.
It’s a one-sentence post and I have to spell it out for you? Jeez, Mayor, how many times have we mocked Gus for allegedly coaching Heisman Trophy candidates who fizzled out?
So does it bother you that Jamie Newman is working out with Justin Fields?
Does that mean that they are BOTH chillaxing with Justin’s bestest bud in the whole world, Adam Sasser, in their off time?
It’s fairly evident that this quarantine shit has gone quite far enough. If it’s this chippy in here think what it’s gonna be like when ( if ) they put the pads on.
If you think it’s the coronavirus that’s making folks here chippy, you haven’t been reading this blog for very long. 😉

It’s mid-April and we haven’t even started throwing QBRs.
We have to admit this about Nix:
He’s the best qb Gus has recruited out of HS to come to auburn.
Not that it was a very high bar.
I wasnt big on Nix but hes surprising at times. Reckon itll depend how much he grows this season from last.
I think Bo Nix has a very bright future. I wouldn’t be surprised if he beat the Dawgs during his career.
