Matt Luke was a fantastic hire but Sam is just not replaceable.

Exactly. I love Luke and he is a good consolation prize, but there is no way to not miss Pittman at least a little.

    • It was likely the one job he would leave Athens for. He and his wife love UGA and the life they had in Athens (and were planning for Athens to be the last stop). Knowing this was probably his one shot to get a head coaching gig before retirement, I can’t be anything but happy for the Pitt Boss.

If he can get them back to bowl eligibility soon, I imagine he’ll finish his career in Fayetteville.

I think he’s a great hire for Arkansas for where they are right now. I don’t see him as a championship-contending coach but he is a great salesman and figurehead; and that program desperately needs a re-brand. Their hope is probably that he will build the program back up and hand it off to a younger, more intriguing HC candidate when he retires.

Well, the good news for Pittman is that it will be hard to make Arkansas worse.

  5. Pittman will do a fine job at Arkansas. He’ll recruit Texas well, steal one from here on occasion. I like both his OC and DC. Let’s be Happy for Coach!

But at the end of the day… This is Georgia! Kirby is the KING

Q: Will there be an NFL to play in? Just askin.’ My advice is to make sure the check clears the bank before you spend the money.

I wish nothing but the best for Pitt Boss. He totally flipped the recruiting dynamic with offensive lineman for us. This was something that I didn’t think possible 5 years ago.

A genuinely good guy. Who would not want him as a boss, coach or dad?

Love Pittman, but I found this just a bit disengenuous myself. He had a camera crew there from the AD to capture the whole thing, which obviously will be used for recruiting and to promote Sam overall. IMO, if he truly meant it and wanted it to be about his players, he would have done this in private.

Kinda reminds me of when people brag incessantly about the volunteer work they are doing it how much they donated to charity last year. Meanwhile, the truly charitable ones do it quietly and would never broadcast it to anyone.

I get your point but this is the business of college football and you’re not doing your job if you don’t take any advantage you can get. It might come off as disingenuous to Dawg fans but every razorback is thrilled that their newly hired coach has a great history of getting big time recruits and sending them to the NFL. This video is just evidence of that for the type of kids that are being recruited today. An SEC head football coach must have a consistent and entertaining presence on social media or they will be forgotten by tomorrow. So Pittman having cameras there to capture this moment was him just doing part of his job.

True Dat 3rd. I have great respect and admiration for Pittman’s work and recruiting. The on field issues with “road graders” proved they could keep Fromm’s jersey clean but in the run schemes there was always one bust on rushing attempts. Swift and company usually are asked to make one man miss after LOS but often there were 2 defenders ( possibly because of offensive strategy ) vs. loaded boxes.
Only difference in 18 and 19 teams was Chubb and Michael along with Swift. A trio rather than a duo plus pulling the plug on Fromm running the read. A protective measure I guess along with Manball philosophy.
Example vs. UF’ers inside the 2 with 3 runs and the defense pinching 8. Caught in the backfield by backside trailing end. I hate to mention Fish Fry’s offense but time spent wisely if that DE-OLB has his shoulder turned angled to nearest back it’s a pull read and even Fromm could walk into the end zone.
Perhaps a plus for Newman. If there is a season. High schools are through and state governments are asking for monies to engage school busses to be outfitted with WIFI where they can be used as hot spots for virtual education in our most rural areas. ATT and Power Companies are looking to do the same. So if the high schools return to virtual education in the fall I doubt there will be college students on campus.
So hats off to the Pitt Boss ( he has to make a Texas pipeline ) and here’s hoping Coach Luke has a chance to work with the somewhat smaller but quicker Dawg OL in September.
