"Some coaches outside of our conference tell [recruits] that it's better to not go to the SEC because it's too tough, too competitive, and you might not have as good of a career there."
– Kirby Smart just now on our show … which coaches/schools is he talking about? 🤔

Chaser.
The SEC had 40 players selected thus far, the most by a single conference through the first 3 rounds in NFL Draft history. The previous record was held by…the SEC (32 in 2013).

Obviously, the message isn’t sinking in.
The acc has just fallen off a cliff… I’m not going to take the time to look but I’m almost certain that 15 years ago, the last time the SEC didn’t lead in draft picks, it was the acc that led. Now they’re 5th?
Anyone else notice that mullen has had more guys picked than kirby so far?
What happens to those guys once they get to Gainesville?

Our O sucked last year and our D was amazing. Pretty much all of the D stayed and the O players who were actually good already got drafted. We will prob have another 2-3 go in the later rounds, but next year will be different given we will see several of those D players going.

With the benefit of hindsight, Fromm made a turrible decision….
You don’t leave early to be a day 3 pick.

What makes you think it would have been better next draft?
3 years of tape told teams he had hit his ceiling and it wasn’t enough to be an NFL starter. They had tape with 2 OC’s and a variety of WRs, so it wasn’t those things.

Sometimes just playing well on a big stage is enough for someone to take a chance at a higher slot.
Theres NO reason to leave early if you’re around on day 3.

Serious question, and I don’t know the answer. How close is Fromm to getting his degree?

So was it Geoff or Dabo Kirbs just ran the bus over?

Obviously Dabo.Won’t compete for the same players against coach tiptoes.

Geoff just needs time and he’ll be pumping out NFL talent in The 404. Give it 5 years (4 if the pandemic hadn’t closed Waffle House).

Temple had four players drafted. He can recruit.
But so could Butch.

I think Kindley was underrated and likely a steal for the Dolphins

Seems like “You’re not good enough to hack it in the SEC” might not be the best message for a coach to send a prospective recruit. But what do I know, I’m just a dumb-hick southerner.

“Come here and play 11 or 12 warm up games, pad your stats and rest up for the 2 big games each year” might be a sell to some.

Bama sells “you’ll wait, train, stay healthy, have a break out year or 2, get drafted”.
And it works bc true. Phenomenal depth allows a buffer on immediate time that can be sold also, but the history of proving it helps. Most freshman arent ready for elite college.

Congrats to Tae Crowder, this year’s “Mr. Irrelevant”. I still think he’ll carve out a good career.
