Your Daily Gator is bumfuzzled.

With Jamie Newman’s name popping up on a number of projections of 2021 NFL draft prospects, you can imagine that’s not sitting well in certain quarters.

Seth’s just getting warmed up there.

The quarterback who sucked never lost to Florida.  Life just ain’t fair if you’re a Gator fan these days.

GF Seth=another great example of only thinking of one side of the ball. Also, he seems to not recognize that a massively talented offense underperformed at a rather astounding level and still won 11 games, because defense.

    But…”How?”

What’s fantastic is that we’re likely looking at a shortened pre-season if not fewer real games altogether which is going to benefit defenses more than anything and we’re stacked on defense. At least 2 of the teams he has beating us will have trouble scoring at all.

I love football and more of it the better, but if a little less means we win then I’m probably going to be OK with that.

Fromm sucks, but who was the last Gator QB to get drafted?
    Transfers don’t count.

Jeff Driskel? They’ve really had a rogues’ gallery of stink at QB since the GPOOE.

That actually shows why Fromm went about where he should in the NFL. Even though the GPOOE got drafted, he never had any real success with a team, and changed to minor league baseball to still get to hang with guys in a locker room. The NFL knows what works for them.

  6. If you read between the lines it sounds like their as happy to see Fromm go as we were to see Tebow go. That “shitty” QB owned their asses just like Tebow did us.

Shouldn’t MuLLLen actually notch a win against Kirby before they start crowing about how they, UT, etc. have surpassed us? Remember some years back when LPGA golfer, Michelle Wie, decided that she was good enough to compete with the men, and actually did so in a tournament? The only problem – she had yet to even win a LPGA event, hence the other female golf pros rightfully called out her arrogance for thinking she was better than them when she was only a middling pro.

Oh, and of course Wie finished last I believe in that men’s event, and she quickly scurried back to the LPGA where she continued her dominance of not winning any events.

The Florida Gators are the Michelle Wie of CFB, and I’m curious what their excuse this year will be when UGA beats them by more than 7 points later this fall. Simply put, Mullen painted himself in a corner by proclaiming UF was only 7 points away from catching UGA. If he doesn’t win this year, he’s in real trouble.

Why are you taking potshots at Michelle Wie for stuff that happened 10+ years ago when she was a teenager? She was under 18 and not eligible to become a full-time member of the LPGA tour. Also she grew up in Hawaii – so the Sony Open decided to give a sponsor exemption to a rising local golf star. They can use the exemption as they choose.
Wie was given a sponsor’s exemption to the 2004 Sony Open in Hawaii, becoming the fourth, and youngest, female to play a PGA Tour event. Her second round score of 68 was the lowest ever by a woman in a PGA Tour event, though she went on to miss the cut in the tournament. While missing the cut by 1 stroke she bettered the 36 hole score of 47 men including 4 major winners and matched the scores of 15 more men including 3 more major winners. This in itself was an utterly incredible achievement by a 14 year-old girl. At age 16, 2 years later she shot another round of 68 in the men’s tour Sony open and bettered the 36 hole score of 18 men including 2 major winners and matched the score of 9 others including 1 major winner.

I get where you’re going, but it seems like a disservice to female athletes and women in general to toss the Florida Gators en masse into the ladies’ room with ’em.

Then again, they have that cringey “Mrs. Gator” mascot, so it’s an open question.

I’m amused that the guy who started the thread, GatorFanSeth I believe, also does not know who Todd Monken is. After being linked to an article by some other poster he then states “Oh the browns had a great offense last year. Good hire. That’s a joke”

These are the caliber of deep thinkers we are dealing with here.

I still cant believe it happened. Im still not sure kirby planned to originally.

I don’t get the preseason Jamie Newman hype (as in he’s unproven) but I get the Gator and Dan Mullen hype even less (they’re proven, that is proven to not be as good as Kirby and his teams).

I remember being happy that SOS didn’t produce highly drafted and/or successful nfl qbs. I also remember enjoying the Terry Dean fiasco. What else did I have? 1989? 1997? 1985?

Any port in a storm, right?

Just really glad things are reversed.

Now we just need to curb stomp them in the same year we win a natty.

Y’all keep saying they’re us X# of years ago. I don’t see it.

I remember a lot of “they’re hearing footsteps” and “we’ve finally got the right coach” and “the talent is slowly getting there” and “now that whatsisname’s moved on” and then finally just “they’re in our heads”. And they were ’til they weren’t.

Yesterday they had a guy demanding to know what Kirby Smart has actually accomplished (SECC, SECE3IAR, Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl wins, BCS title game appearance, 3-0 in Jax) to compare to what Mullen has accomplished (….um….?). I don’t recall anything like that level of self-delusion. I know it’s just message board stuff, but I don’t recall relentless daily mocking of quarterbacks who had killed us, etc.

Not the old us, in my opinion. You know who I’m seeing?

The vintage Chicken People. They are Holtz’ Henpeckers. Minus, so far, the occasional wins.

    • I will remind you that at the Dawg Vent after UGA won the ’97 Cocktail Party game, there were a large number of idiots who proclaimed that Spurrier had finally met his match in Jim Donnan, who was the new sheriff in town.

When they inevitably snake a win they’ll spew the same stupidity from their suckholes and they’ll be even more wrong. Payback is a stone cold bitch.

I was in Los Angeles at the time, but communicating with people here. I remember that in ’97 only, even including the “new sheriff” bit, but would remind you in turn that it actually followed an on-the-field, scoreboard, for-real win.

If your point is that Florida fans are more delusional than other fans bases, I think that’s right. One of the reasons I thought Pruitt would last longer than Mullen is because of that delusion. They got spoiled too quick by 2 of the 3 best coaches in college football since Bear and they think that success was about Florida and not about being fortunate enough to have Spurrier and Meyer as HC. Bullshit.

Georgia fans have plenty of all different shades of insanity, but I’d say we’ve been more conditioned towards fatalism than anything else.

I agree regarding Florida having had 2 of the top 3 coaches since Bear and how that has set them up for the future. I just hope that Kirby keeps treating Mullen like he deserves. If Kirby gets a 5 or 6-year streak against the Gators they may become worse than we (Georgia fans) were in the 90s and early 2000s.

Yeah, that’s basically my view. We’d had Pat Dye dominating us; we had a massive Tennessee problem; through most of the nineties we were generally aware of the orange ceiling over the program, I think. We were trudging towards a series of mirages, thinking and hoping they were getting closer, but not actually claiming “we’re there!” so much, in my memory.

Florida is somewhere in that denial/negotiating stage of grief.
Carolina was/is a different bird and always will be, but it’s a similar look in terms of inability-to-see-yourselves-as-others-see-you.

One can only hope that Newman “sucks” as bad a Fromm. If he sucks that bad then a 4th straight SEC east title and a legitimate shot at the NC are on our horizon.

If “sucking” means beating Florida every time and two out of three of those wins are three-touchdown-plus beatdowns, I desperately want my quarterbacks to keep sucking.
