“They’ll be fine.”

Fretting over the unsettled state of Georgia’s offensive line?  Sam Pittman advises you to chill, man.

“There’s plenty of talent on that line there even though they lost several kids but they recruited well like Georgia always does,” Pittman said. “Xavier Truss is a kid that’s got a lot of talent. They’ll be fine. They’ve got a really good offensive line coach there. They’ll be fine.”

Pittman said the 6-foot-3, 290-pound Webb is a valuable piece because of his versatility to play guard and center.

“Of course, I’m sure they’ll find a place for Clay Webb to play and Tray coming back there, that’s a key,” he said. “I’m not positive what they’ll do at left tackle but they sure had a great signing class. If they have to go with the young kid like we did with Andrew, we did and went to the national championship game.”

So there.

  1. The most glowing remarks in that article were about Salyer and how well he played in January. The Pitt Boss talked so positively about how Salyer has waited his turn and will be a standout.

I’m not 100% convinced our line will be fine. Lot of question marks, just like the entire offense. Some new people are really going to have to step up.

Defense really will be fine, but offense???

    • 3 of the 5 guys who started in the Sugar Bowl will be back. 1 guy who started most of the season should be back (Cleveland). A bunch of guys who redshirted last year will get a chance to play meaningful minutes.

If the line sucks, then the Pitt Boss wasn’t such a good talent evaluator after all.

I hope and that Sam Pitman recruits well, builds the Razorbacks back into competitiveness and eventually wins the SECW one hundred years in a row.

Just speculating, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Hill tried at G or OT. If the player info is to be believed, he’s bigger than Andrew Thomas. One would think he’d want to move over a slot (or two) and possibly improve his draft stock. OTs are ALWAYS high on nfl draft boards. And we have Erickson, Webb and Van Pran waiting in the wings.

Having said that, I think we’ll be fine with Salyer, Truss, Jones, Ratledge, McClendon, et. al. And Luke was a good replacement for Pittman.

He doesn’t have quick enough feet for tackle. I could see a scenario where if they don’t like any of the redshirt or true freshmen options at tackle they could put Webb at C or G and have Cleveland kick out to RT with Salyer at LT.
