.@JoshTheAthletic tells us that the SEC has "everything on the table" regarding its options for the 2020 season. "If the SEC’s only option is to play football by themselves and crown a champion in Atlanta, they’ll do that.”

The SEC — fuck yeah!
And Georgia finally wins it all with a giant asterisk. FML. There could never be anything more Georgia.

LOL, let’s not pretend there aren’t question marks and asterisks surrounding the way “national championships” are claimed throughout the long history of the NCAA botching this aspect of D1 football. Claim anything you want in this area, no other collegiate sport has question marks and decades long discussions, just D1 CFB; that’s it. It has been the “Alabama Way”, “ohio Way”, ND Way, etc., long before there was ever a Georgia Way.

Since FBS has never had a NCAA championship process all claimed “Natties” are deserving asterisks. As Macallanlover points out, there are championships claimed by referenced to polls so there were many years in which multiple colleges all claimed, “We`re number 1!” The BCS trophy was not a NCAA award and the current ESPN invitational tournament is a made for television ESPN property.

Are y’all really THAT desperate for college football that you’d support a non-legit season?

If, by “y’all”, you mean conference commissioners and athletic directors, I’d say shit, yeah, they’re that desperate.

I’d add the people in the sports media industrial complex to that list.

Good God yes, those folks are starving for content.

Oh man, just think of the tv contract if this were to happen. The SEC could negotiate an exclusive media rights deal as the only football in the country this fall.

Don’t forget there is an obscure league with the initials N and F and L.
It may draw some attention this year.

Further proof the first goal each season should be to win the conference! 🙂

Exactly..it is earned, no invitations from a committee needed.

I would like to remind everyone that Alabama has two National Championships in the past ten years from when they did not even win the SEC West. In the Playoff Era, there are only 4 years where an SEC team did not win the Title. Winning the SEC is actually probably harder than winning the National Championship.

A dream come true. Then we add 2/4/6 more teams. Have a super conference, declare the SEC the national champion every year.
An SEC slate with one post season game. Heck yea

Our Guv sez Covid testing is now open to everyone in the state, symptomatic or not.
If testing is open to everyone, why not just require anyone attending games to show proof of a negative test?
We’ve got four months until the first scheduled game, should be time enough for labs to catch up to the demand.

Because the only thing that test can tell you is whether or not you had it when you took the test. It can’t tell you if you have it on game day. I doubt we can process 90,000+ tests as fans walk through the gates.

Not sure if ya’ll caught this post but if the colleges don’t tee it up come Saturday the NLFer’s are making some updating plans. Just sayin’ if your late to the party someone else will be glad to dance with your date.

The ACC footprint with its New England & Virginia markets, which are higher risk may keep them from trying the same.

ACC football won’t happen. UVA and VT won’t play. The Virginia governor is an MD and he understands epidemiology, not evangelical nonsense.
