The average P5 athletic director earns a seven-figure salary these days.
All that, and you get to buy out your mistakes. Nice work if you can get it.

Well there’s your first spot to get some savings. Those P5 AD’s could hand back 90% of those salaries and most would still be overpaid relative to their value.

I’d like to know what Jimmy Sexton’s take-home is.
Pandemic schmandemic, gotta get that unpaid labor back to work asap. Lots of salaries to support. Amateurism FTW.
Kirby Smart’s got 7 million dollars to make this year. Let’s go kids. It doesn’t matter if summer semester is online only. Your ass belongs to us.
Looks like one would want to be an AD in the Big 12. But then you would have to live in Manhattan KS or Lubbock or someplace like that.
When I first moved to Houston, everyone I met had either gone to Texas or Texas A&M. Since we were all engineers, I asked why I haven’t met anyone from Texas Tech. One of the guys (from El Paso) said “have you ever been to Buttock (Lubbock)?” He said it was the only place he’d seen where there was literally tumbleweed blowing through the middle of town.
I could manage for a few years. 🙂
I was a little surprised that the SEC AD’s were 4/5 on that list.
SEC plays the players more. 🙂

"What an incredible turnout. It felt like a home game when you looked up in the stands and saw all the red. I expected it to be that way but maybe not as much as it was." -- Kirby Smart, Dawgs247.com, 11/27/21
