Evergreen wisdom

It comes up in an article about spring football and the resulting possibility of players opting out to train for the NFL draft rather than play college ball ($$), but really, is there a situation involving the NCAA when you couldn’t use this quote?

One Power 5 assistant coach said, “It is a mess, and we have no leadership from the NCAA. It’s a damn joke.”

  1. I believe Riley is probably underestimating the number of those who would just skip the season and go directly to training for the draft. The only way that changes that would be for the NFL to change their draft timeline. His position doesn’t include those that opt to leave mid-season because their team is no longer involved in a championship run.

Playing in the spring makes sense until you look at the unintended consequences of spring football.

This should be over the entryway at NCAA HQ… It is a mess, and we have no leadership from the NCAA. It’s a damn joke.

If it is postponed until Spring College football will be like watching high school. No senior’s or junior’s with a chance at the NFL will be playing.
