The problem with a mediocre recruiter is that even if he can coach them up…what happens if he takes another job? Dan Mullen will never be an elite recruiter. With Miami and FSU sucking, you have to try not to put together top 6 classes. https://t.co/f6SsB0IiBg

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
What’s funny to me is that the most of the media are still treating Mullen like he’s in his first year at UF in terms of recruiting. I think the book on Mullen’s recruiting prowess has been written at this point. He’s not a new coach anymore. He’s never going to be an elite recruiter. Same as Spurrier, except Spurrier was able to win his division.

Spurrier was able to surround himself with guys who could recruit. He was also a game day coach who could take his and beat yours (except Tommie Frazier’s Nebraska team) and turn around and beat his with yours.

Yeah that’s very good point. Mullen has twice the head coaching experience but somehow Kirby is the guy falling behind? And what happened to the famous 2nd year bounce with Mullen? I think the thing with recruiting is its a bitching amount of constant nonstop work. Maybe until you can kind of get Alabama Clemson Ohio state level where it self perpetuates. I’d like to think we’re close to that

There is an aspect to recruiting that’s like sales. People either have that in their DNA or they don’t. Kirby was a monster recruiter before he came to UGA. Mullen not so much. Mullen is more of a technical guy and thrives in a system like Corch had. Mullen also did ok at Miss State where there were zero expectations and stringing together 7-6 and 6-7 type seasons to get to bowls was considered overachieving.

CKS has a “process” plus a vision on how to get where he wants UGA football to go….FU hc not so much vision, just talk and this crap about all those bowl games the FU hc got to….6-6 gets a football team to a bowl game (3 wins with sisters of the lost shoe u gets you half way to the 6 needed, look at FU’s schedule 2020)….let the “Port-o-let master” wonder out there lost and losing recruited student athletes, now that’s how one closes the gap with Kirbs ability, the more of this i take in, makes this years (as always) game with FU a must to attend in person…..#FTMF

BC over UF for a good recruit? Yikes. How much did BC pay him then ss that’s the go too?
Something’s not good in the water down the road in Gainesville.

Yeah, I’m waiting with bated breath for the Swamp247 thread where someone suggests that Mullen needs to start paying recruits as much as Boston College does if they’re going to compete.

Bet there is a comment at the The Swamp that goes something like: ‘Well at least he didn’t go to Georgia, so Dan got that right.’

He was the second highest rated player that had been committed to them and he would be #8 on UGA’s board. But I can see all the fu boards now saying Mullen didn’t want him because…..

I love seeing the Turds lose another recruit. Can’t believe it was for BC, but whatever. Good luck to the kid.

The Gayturds or the Roll Turds? How does Saban lose that kid to Notre Dame Lite unless there’s smoke on the horizon.

Who is even the HC at BC?

Anybody not named Dan Mullen is the correct answer.
