    ‘Splain something to me Senator. Now that Daniels has been ruled eligible to play immediately, why is Kirby even messing with Newman, a one year player at best?

      Not sure I understand… are you saying Smart should ditch Newman right now?

      Are we even sure that Daniels is physically ready to play yet?

      Really, dude?

      Because Daniels is coming off of a horrendous knee injury, while Newman is a ready to go, proven Senior leader who is PFF’s 3rd best returning QB in all of CFB and Daniels isn’t even close to that (yet).

        Ok. You sold me. I just believe in continuity at QB. All things being equal we have one guy who everyone says is a future NFL QB who is a potential 3 year starter and another who is one and done. I get Daniels may not be totally healed and I guess that’s reason enough to go with Newman but still……

          Those same guys all say Newton is also an NFL QB. And PFF says he’s better. Daniels needs time to finish healing and to acclimate himself. Newton’s been here, been in the meetings, did 7-on-7 drills in the Spring before covid-19 took hold.

          One thing you’re missing though is, if Daniels is better, he’ll start. Kirby isn’t Mark Richt. Kirby doesn’t hand the starting QB job to a guy just because he’s been there the longest or have the most pedigree. Under Kirby, we’ll never have a repeat of Joe T3 or Joe Cox. The guy who knows the offense best and who practices the best will start. Thank God for that.

    I find the Florida evaluation intriguing. Probably true those guys can plug and play in Mullen’s offense as backups when called upon, but can they play well vs. “good” teams the way most Mullen QBs have not?

      No… No, they cannot. Especially not against a team with a defense the caliber the Dawgs will field this year. That is, if we get to see them play this year.
