The Florida-Florida State rivalry might not be dead this year, after all. At least not if Gov. Ron DeSantis gets his wish.
During a news conference in Jacksonville about the importance of sports, DeSantis brought up the Gators-Seminoles rivalry twice and said he “may be working” on something to make the matchup happen.
“I just want to say that, as the governor, I would like to see a way for that game to happen,” DeSantis said. “I think this is a very fluid situation, but it’s an epic rivalry.”
“And I think the Gators’ prospects look good. I think they played LSU better than any team did (last year, when LSU won the national title)…”

One potential option would be if the two teams could meet in a bowl game. The Gator Bowl in Jacksonville would seem to be the most likely candidate, based on existing bowl-conference agreements.
‘Cause that’s where national title caliber teams always finish their seasons…

Honestly – that’s not a bad idea. The Gator Bowl option. He’s typically a useless tool bag. But on this one. Yeah. That actually makes sense in a year when nothing does.

If the Handbags are in the Gator Bowl this year, MuLLLet’s seat will scalding hot entering 2021.
All of the Criminole fans will be crawling back out from underneath their rocks saying “F$U is back” if they are in a bowl game this year.

I would honestly think bowls, if they exist at all this year, will be almost like a throwback to an earlier era, with little rhyme or reason to the selection other than locale / availability / logistics. I think pecking order and assignment will be out the window and it sounds like a perfect opportunity to wiggle an important game back on the schedule.

Hey maybe that would work for Ga- Ga Tech. If Georgia for some strange reason doesn’t make the playoffs we could always play Tech in the Peach bowl. that way we would get to beat them in Atlanta again. ROTFLMAO. Did I get that right?
