Fields left with the respect of his teammates and coaches. They understood it was a business decision, and he wasn’t transferring to Alabama.
OTOH, Mays and his family seemed to go full scorched earth when he was likely told he wasn’t going to be given the left tackle position (that’s total speculation on my part).
