“Mike Bobo, he knows a lot.”

I’m sorry, but do you really expect me to take at face value an article about South Carolina’s new offensive coordinator ($$) that doesn’t contain a single reference to balance?

Bridge too far, man.

Has anyone mentioned to the cocks fans that the losing OC in this game is their OC now?

Is this a media-fed cannon shot?

I wonder where Bobo will be next season? Unless USCjr can’t afford to buy out Muschamp with finances being what they are this year. I just don’t see them not getting hammered by most teams.

I’m willing to bet not one coach in the P3 gets fired this season. Not Boom. Not Derrick Mason. Not anyone.

It’s too weird a year already. It’s a mulligan year.

      • I totally agree with that. I also see some scalding hot seats at the end of this year (especially if a full 10 game schedule gets played). The loser of the South Carolina/Tennessee game may be at the top of the list.

Yeah, because of 2020, there will be a lot of short timers in 2021.

I mean, I think we’ll see coaches start to get fired in 2021 early, like after Week 3 early.

I see the normal cycle slowing waaay down, but at the same time I won’t be surprised if some teams use this year as an excuse to fire some coaches that just don’t gee haw with an administration. There will be so many damned-if-you-do-or-don’t type decisions for coaches this year that an AD who doesn’t like a coach will have no problem picking one to hang his hat on, maybe even for cause, to get rid of a coach.

I think you need to think about it as a cash flow issue, not as a coaching issue.

There is much less cash coming in this year, whereas next year, regardless of the team, season tickets should be WAY UP across the board because of people missing out this season. That’s why they’ll wait for next season.

It doesn’t make fiscal sense to fire any coach with any kind of a buyout this season (which is basically most CFB coaches).

Yeah, hence the normal cycle slowing down, but AD’s looking for “cause” situations to avoid buyouts. I.e. “You endangered the whole team’s safety by letting him practice when you should have known he had been in contact with some person who tested positive. Fired for cause.” or “You didn’t enforce the team rules to keep your players in a bubble and they went out anyways and got Covid. DIDN’T YOU SEE THEIR INSTAGRAM PICS AT THE CLUB??? Fired for cause.”

Yeah man, that’s gonna be tough for them to prove. Almost all fired for causes are, it’s why schools generally avoid going that route.

They don’t need to prove it for it to help the bottom line, they just need something to create an argument. Spurious “for cause” claims is the fun new trend. Very worst case you pay the buyout plus legal fees after a couple years in court. If you have any colorable argument at all, but lose, you get a long delay before paying the buyout and no fees. If there’s actually something to it you get a long delay then settle for less. And hey, maybe you win.

Nah… People (fans) have short attention spans. Once they see Boom struggling to get to 5 wins this year he will be given the boot at the end.

Completely agree. This year is a mulligan.

Especially with Gunner Stockton on deck. Firing the staff (and not promoting Bobo to head coach, which seems unlikely) probably means he comes to UGA

Have to agree… unless some very deep pocketed booster donates the payoff.

Sackerlina has a tough row to hoe this year but if Boom let’s Bobo run the offense, they have to be better. Still not sold on Boom as a HC though.

All the stubbornness of Kirby with none of the results.

As we say about Sideshow Dan the Clown, who has Spurrier’s mouth but Boom’s trophy case.

Yeah, I was thinking something along those lines. Must be something in the nature of defensive coaches. Bobo running offense, Boom running defense, and someone else running the show could be a tough combo.

That combo would’ve won Mark Richt a couple of national titles.

Instead, we were stuck with Soft Willie Martinez.

I suspect Bobo will do well – the only thing holding him back will be a lack of talent. I hope he does well except when we play them.
I want him to hang half a hundred on the Swamp Lizards.
