Given how the school didn’t have his back with the NCAA when he was suspended, it’s amazing how loyal Gurley has remained to UGA. He’s the embodiment of a DGD.

Falcons’ RB Todd Gurley is now helping out back at Georgia, where he made his name. Gurley is taking the initiative to get more involved in athletics, education, social justice and community via a strategic alliance. pic.twitter.com/CJjG4bIPL9

“And Georgia fans, don’t be turds. Enjoy this. Soak it up. It’s awesome. If you don’t win this year, it’s still not a failure. It’s a heck of a run. Back-to-back in the Playoff era hasn’t been done. So, to ask for a third I feel like it’s gluttonous. I feel like it’s not OK. But we’ll be in the mix.”-- David Pollack, On3.com, 5/9/23
Agreed. DGD.

I get what you’re saying, but man, McGarity and B-M and the president aren’t “the school,” or at least, the totality of Georgia. The students, the alums, his teammates, his coaches, we all compromise UGA as much as a useless, sniveling AD and his equally useless, sniveling masters.
I think Gurley knows and understands that. I think that’s why he comes back, and why he loves Georgia. I think you’re right in that a lesser person would hold a grudge, so I’m thankful that he doesn’t. I just hate it when I see people talk about this and painting our school with a wide brush when it was a relatively small amount of assholes at B-M and the president’s office who rolled over and refused to support Gurley. The rest of us did support him, and while that support carried no weight with the NCAA, we can tell TG3 was and is grateful.

I don’t think ‘compromise’ is the word you wanted there.

No, it was supposed to be “comprise” and I can only guess my fat thumbs caused a misspelling and my iPhone’s autocorrect, which is never right, took it from there.
Thanks!

Really can’t say it any better. Gurley probably reps UGA more often than I do, and that’s really saying something.

Todd Gurley is as responsible as I am for making my 14 year old daughter a Dawgs fan. Of course we watch the games together, but kids have a funny way of deciding for themselves who they’ll root for. She took a liking to Gurley pretty early, to the point that she actually watched the NFL draft that year, she was hoping the Falcons would take him. Imagine that, an 8 year old watching the draft. He even responded to her on reddit during his draft day AMA, through my account. He is, and always will be, a DGD in my eyes. I know a lot of people feel the same way.

What did the Falcons have to do with this? That said, I’m glad they gave him a shot.

He’s just saying he was unaware that the Falcons signed Gurley.
Would have loved to see him splitting time with Fournette to keep his arthritis in check. Hope he has a few years left in the tank, and I think his nose for the endzone will keep him employed in a LeGarret Blount type role eventually.

We don’t deserve Todd Gurley.

Totally agree he is treating the school much better than it treated him.
My guess is TG3 has always felt the love of the Dawg Nation no matter where his travels took him. Welcome home DGD and in a Falcons uniform.
It`s going to hard not to watch him play this year no matter my feelings regarding the NFL or the Falcons lack of drafting UGA players.
Get you some this year Big Dawg!

The word on the Vent from Dash and Radi was that the paltry sum published about what Gurley got paid was a tiny fraction of the total amount. Supposedly it was in the mid 5 figures as a total sum. I don’t blame Gurley, but apparently the NCAA knew the real figure and that’s why our AD rolled over.
Also, it pains me to actually type anything in defense of McGarity.

for a sig for a college kid? Find that tough to believe.

That doesn’t make sense, because the NCAA only required TG to pay back $3000.

Just reporting what they said at some point this summer. That he was getting paid BIG money for those autographs, the 3K number was agreed to as a face saving thing with NCAA with the big suspension.

The NCAA doesn’t do face saving in those situations.

His signature wouldn’t be worth these numbers even now. Pro sigs really aren’t that valuable… I’ve got a football that Herschel Walker signed. Really not a big deal

Spencer Hall got offered the “scoop” about the video showing him signing stuff and told the guy to go die. So Spencer Hall also fought harder for Gurley than UGA did.

Agreed. I’ve long said I would have never played another snap for Georgia if I were Gurley after the administration dimes him out to the NCAA. Especially in the wake of guys like Johnny Mansfield and Jameis Winston being supported by their schools under similar circumstances.

Exactly. Risked his career after being thrown under the bus.

What Corch said above. Your connection to your school is the relationships you have with fellow students and mentors. Dickhead administrators? Animal House. Screw ’em.
