Your Daily Gator grudgingly assesses the Cocktail Party.

From one of the board staffers:

Couple of key “probably”s mixed in with an “If they show up with the correct arm bands this year” gets you to a Florida win.

Gonna be tough.

But he didn’t even say Mullen was a better coach.

“The offense line has to be better by default. ” No, it doesn’t have to.

      BTDT haven’t we?
And being “successful on third downs” with a TG defense? Yep, got that nervous twitch too….

Those guys are really cute with their predictions. The average score according to them is 26 – 14. Has any Mullen team ever scored 26 against a Kirby defense?
Evidently the new mode of transportation in gator land is the unicorn.

One. And it was Florida in the 2008 SEC Title Game.

In the 11 games played since then, every one a loss, they’ve only scored over 17 points once, in 2014 when MSU scored 20.

My favorite gator post of the year is on page 2.

The key to the game is scoring more points than Georgia if we do that we win.

Hard to argue with those deep dive gator facts. All I got is #FTMF.

Full squad on full squad UF will not win. Corona is their only chance.

Here’s what an honest UF perspective assessment would look like:

“On paper we should lose, but if we’re ever going to steal one from Georgia under Smart, this is the year. Our chances just got a lot better when Newman quit. If we can’t do it this year, we need to be looking for a new coach.”

  8. Those idiots don’t even realize that November 7 is still 2 months away. There’s plenty of time to work out the kinks in the offense. Plus, all we need to do is get into 3rd down against Towel Boy. The only way they break 20 would be for us to go full South Carolina ‘19 and turn it over.

    Handbags, we’re coming. #FTMF

ee, now you’re giving idiots a bad name here, true idiots don’t pray/ask for an outcome of an event, when in reality those wishes are going for not, no chance of those prayers being being answered by GAWD hisself…i know this cause not only am i an idiot, i’m the lead guy of idiotnation….#FTMF

I think last year was their best chance. Baring COVID and injury concerns by the time this team gets to JAX the offense will be settled in. I just can`t see side show Dan putting up lots of points on a Kirby Smart defense. It would take a USCe kinda of game us to lose this year.

Now we have a coach that circles this game on the schedule and hates our rival too. I don`t see Kirby ever tiring of stomping gator hearts.

Your last two sentences say it all.

We finally have a coach who wants to beat them as much and as badly as Spurrier wanted to beat us.

He only lost to us once. I can’t see Kirby losing more than once in 10 years, and we already had that one back in 2016.

You think he hates the Gators, you should read Seth’s book about Kirby’s postgame talk to the team after the Kentucky game in 2017.

“Offensive line that has to be better by default.” That’s some solid reasoning. Same reason pitchers didn’t want to pitch to me after I struck out 4-5 times. I was due to crank one!

Those “if’s” add up quick. We have some experience with that. They never really pan out the way you hope.

Defense and Quarterback. I’d call it a draw. Our defense is better, their quarterback is better.

I will say that the quarterback situation and having a new OC would give me pause in normal circumstances; I still think we’ll be in good shape because our defense will win a lot of our games for us.

Also, there’s no fucking way UF is on par with us on the OL or at RB. WR, maybe; TE, maybe; and I’ll even give them QB. They won’t be a pushover, but they’re still going to have to bring their best to this game and Mullen has never been able to do that consistently.

I am not so sure about Trask. He threw a lot of passes last year that should have been interceptions. You can only do that for so long. Even great QBs like Favre would have years where their style of play caught up with them. Trask is to Favre what Grantham is to Kirby as a DC.

    • I’ll take Daniels over Tras[h] right now. Starter at one of the true national high school powerhouses, 5-star recruit, and true freshman starter at what many would say is modern day QBU over a guy who couldn’t beat out a really good player who went to a Go5 program and needed an injury to The Turnover Machine Franks at FU.

Also, their OL being better by default… Because, as everyone knows, that’s the way it works. Every year the OL of every team gets better by default. Soon the OL’s in college will be better than those in the NFL!

I get that he was saying their OL was so bad last year that they have to be better this year. But as Dawg fans know, if you don’t make OL recruiting a priority, then the OL play won’t get better by default just because you have some returning starters. They may be better vs a lot of defenses they face but when they have to play against a defense loaded with wave after wave of legitimate NFL talent like the Dawgs have, they will be exposed. The difference between a 5 star and 3 star recruit recruit might not be that big when comparing one on one. But the difference between ten five star and ten 3 star recruits is as large as the Grand Canyon. Your experienced group of 3 star OL-men can win the day against a D with a good or above average front 7. But that same OL will get worked over by a front 7 like the Dawgs have. Fortunately for the lizards, they won’t play many, if any, other teams that have a defense as talented/dominant as them Dawgs! I really really really hope we get the opportunity to witness this defense play a whole season!
