“He got a little bit of a ding today and ended up having to leave the scrimmage about halfway through.”

He also had surgery.

UGAsports has learned that graduate transfer tight end Tre’ McKitty underwent a successful procedure to have his knee scoped after getting dinged up during Saturday’s scrimmage at Sanford Stadium.

Although the procedure was considered minor, his timetable for a return is unclear.

Georgia opens its season Sept. 26 at Arkansas.

Damn it.  Just when this was going to be the year when the Dawgs used the tight ends in the passing game, too…

Well if there is good news it is that he is young, presumably healthy, and apparently it did not involve replacing a ligament. That said, my wife had to have her knee scoped a while back and it was successful, and she rehabbed as much as they asked but she did not feel good about it for 3-4 weeks. It seems to me that best case is a couple of weeks just because the scar needs to thoroughly heal. He could probably walk on it fine and maybe even run, but take contact?

I have to say I would like to see what Washington can do. I get that he may be a little heavy, but we haven’t had a 6′ 7″ receiver of any kind that I can recall since Leonard Pope. Watching some of the old games with him recently and seeing him in traffic or matched up on a linebacker made it move a little.

  4. Didn’t Rodney Hampton either play the week or 2 following have his knee scoped during the season? I think it was 1989. I want to say his was a meniscus tear.

Yes. IIRC he had his knee as coped a week we were off and played the next game. it was 1989. I don’t recall what the knee problem was, though

Dang, Arik Gilbert was a BIG recruiting loss. Word is that he’s already a freak at LSU. To be honest though UGA’s offense last year wouldn’t have swayed me either…

Since grumpy Kirby said “He was dinged” (and that equals some form of surgery), don’t want to know what “Dinged Up” equals…..

The way we use tight ends, he could have a peg leg and it wouldn’t make a difference.
