    Other than Seth’s book?

Really, I guess it’s pretty much Seth’s book for anything lately. It’s pretty good, though, I honestly wish he went into more detail about what happened in 2015.

He gives us as much as he can without the possibility that someone will turn around and sue him (ahem, name rhymes with Screw It), but man, you just have this feeling that he knows even more than what he wrote but still doesn’t feel comfortable printing it.

Also, I’m not a fan of the subtitle. We haven’t “Returned to Glory.” We’re on the road to glory, and that would’ve been better, I think. That was probably the publisher’s decision, though.

Even with that, it’s a great read and great insight into Kirby’s mind.

So what I’m saying is, go buy Seth’s book! The kindle copy is only $14.99.

They sound good, don’t get me wrong, and if you’ve never had a powerful surround sound wired system with subwoofer, etc..you’ll love it. The ease of use is worth it to most people…it’s not cheap…but it works well if you have good WIFI.

I have a wired system (Onkyo, Polk Audio) and a wireless (Yamaha). The Yamaha performs admirably but when you’re really cranking something it just can’t compete. However, it’s precisely what I need in the room where I have it.

            Like

      • I have both. I have wired system in our TV room with Mirage and Polk Audio speakers paired with a Velodyne sub-woofer and a pair of Edifer self powered speakers in the kitchen (which I think I discovered from a previous year’s gift post on GTP). I have Chromcast devices on both so I can cover the whole ground floor of our home or play music in just one area. I guess the Edifer speakers are technically “wired”, as well, but they sound much better than a Bluetooth speaker and remove the need for an amp in the kitchen which the wife would not go for at all.

I am someone who spends most of his time in shorts after a long career that required full attire. https://freeflyapparel.com/ has the most comfortable and stylish shorts, that are appropriate for: September, early October games, the beach, golf, with a nice polo, etc… If you spend time on a boat, they dry very quickly, are the perfect combination of form fitting but loose and stretch a bit. The pocket liners of shorts and all their shirts are made of Bamboo. Lastly, they are a company out of South Carolina so ground shipping takes just a few days here in the Southeast. Description here is mostly about the Hybrid Short which comes in 7.5″ and 9″ length but have a few of the others as well. Check’em out.

I don’t have any of these shorts specifically, but that Bamboo fabric is the bomb, I can say that.

    • The bamboo shirts are great too.I have both the long sleeve and short sleeve t-shirts I wear as sun protection. Soft as can be and they dry quickly as well. Best part is they don’t stink like many sun shirts do when you sweat in them. I even have a few of the light & mid-weight hoodies which are great as well.

I have never bought the Free Fly shorts since I prefer a shorter inseam than most of the options they offer. I live in Aftco fishing shorts. They are indestructible and dry quickly. Of course, they aren’t as versatile to wear if you need a slightly dressier look.

Something’s up Derek’s read end today, huh? You okay, man? Are you finally waking up to the dawning horror of the most likely outcome in November?

While I’m not particularly happy about it, I made my peace with it the moment the DNC nominated a man with obviously failing mental faculties and then his handlers choose the least popular former candidate (first person out) as his running mate. It’s almost like they’re throwing the election. It must have been how Republicans felt when the best they could nominate to go after charismatic sitting presidents were charisma black holes Bob Dole and Mitt Romney. Well, with the added insanity of TDS tacked-on, of course.

I suggest you make the same kind of peace, Derek. Coming in hot like you’re doing today, there’s just no call for it. Be well.

Dude, if you don’t think Trump has charisma, I got nothing for you.

This is what I seriously don’t understand about the DNC and people still voting Democrat. Not only do they continue to underestimate Trump and create these fictions for why he won (RUSSIA!!!) in 2016 in order to absolve themselves from losing the most winnable presidential race in decades, instead of taking an honest look of what they did wrong in 2015 and 2016, they instead quadrupled-down.

All the DNC had to do was not be crazy. Don’t sympathize with and make excuses for the worst fringes of their ideology. Don’t actually encourage violent rioting and hundreds of millions of dollars of property damage in cities they’ve controlled for decades. Don’t nominate a man with obvious mental deterioration. Don’t use media allies to continue to spread tinfoil hat conspiracies. DON’T BE CRAZY.

        They couldn’t even do that.

But sure Illini, Trump isn’t charismatic. Or something.

The 1,296 proven instances occurred between 1982 and 2020. Literally billions of votes were cast during that same period. Billions. Twenty eight years, thousands of elections, billions of votes and they found 1,296 problems nationwide.

              Liked by 1 person

              • It doesn’t take billions, millions, or even thousands of votes to throw elections. Just a thumb on the scale. LBJ was elected to the senate after Box 13 was mysteriously found days after the election with 200 votes in alphabetical order in the same ink and handwriting. He won by 87 votes.

In 2000, Bush beat Gore by 537 votes in Florida. And the count was continually changing. Without the Supreme Court’s decision, the recount would probably still be ongoing.

And those were high profile elections affecting national politics. The margins for state and local elections are much narrower and the scrutiny much less. The 1,296 proven instances obviously aren’t the only ones. Those are the guys who got caught. Most of them don’t get caught.

So if you genuinely question the integrity of the process then surely you understand both parties are equally likely to cheat. The only instance in recent history where an election was overturned due to fraud (North Carolina) involved a Republican operative who was ballot harvesting. The desire for power and the greed that fuels it doesn’t have a party affiliation. In our current situation with the White House consistently hammering away at the ‘fraudulent’ and ‘rigged’ election process, what happens if Trump wins? Isn’t he in danger of tainting his own victory?

                  Like

                • Yes. Both major parties have corrupt players. That’s one of the reasons I belong to neither party and don’t vote for their candidates.

I’m sure Republicans would be satisfied with a Trump election. Just as I’m sure that a Biden victory would instantly erase the post office interference concerns of Democrats. And that a Hillary victory in 2016 would have resulted in CNN lauding the pristine election process such that even the bogeyman of Russia could only purchase a few Facebook ads, which couldn’t possibly affect the election.

I support increased security for elections. Right now, that’s a Republican position. So I think they’re the better party on this issue.

The Senate investigation found that two other Russians who met at Trump Tower in 2016 with senior members of the Trump campaign — including Mr. Manafort; Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law; and Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son — had “significant connections to Russian government, including the Russian intelligence services.”
