It’s been a helluva ride so far, that’s for sure.
His physical limits were on display last night — we now know exactly how far he can throw a deep ball — but he’s got moxie. And his teammates have clearly bought in. For now, he’s definitely the man.
Read a great quote tonight:
“Stetson Bennett is who Bo Nix thinks he is.”
That is eerily accurate.

The quick-witted Stetson Bennett when asked what his goals were when he got to Georgia?
“Which time?”

“... Shoot, why does anybody who’s ever won something do it again? Because it’s cool. So, let’s go do it again. Let’s see if we’ve got what it takes.” -- Stetson Bennett, The Athletic, 3/22/22
He makes good decisions and has escapability in the pocket. As they said after the game, with this schedule coming up, knowing the offense and dependability are really more important than anything else.
The sudden emergence of Kearis Jackson as a favorite target is also really important.
Lastly: the numbers and run/pass percentage may look like last year, but hot damn, Monken’s plays and formations are a million times better.

Just re watched the 2nd half. Jackson caught a deep out where the guy on vertical cleared the safety for him. Absolutely beautiful passing tree. That has not happened under Kirby smart.

On the flip side, Stetson threw one far enough that Landers had to slow down to keep from catching it.

Ridiculous. I do not know what it takes for them to bench him. His effort level is completely antithetical to what Kirby normally tolerates.

Can somebody give me a time stamp on that…

43 seconds left in the half.

Ty. I know why I missed it now. Gonna go watch

So I went and re watched. I’m not sure what he was doing or what happened. kind of looks like he lost the ball. But with his speed that should have been a touchdown

The origin of your break with reality last night. He gave up on the route. Period. He beat his opponent and started slowing down before Stetson even threw the ball.
Lack of effort. Playing like he doesn’t care. And while I may have been a little vociferous in my anger (sober as a stone, btw), my point remains the same: There is NEVER any excuse for not giving giving 100% effort. Ever. Cycle this guy out of the program. He’s on like his 10th chance now. Enough is enough.

I am so utterly tired of your shit. I’ll put you on the Dereck profile. I wish you would do the same to me. You are constantly condescending holier-than-thou and know more than anybody else on the planet.. You just did it in this very comment. You ruin threads. You’re insulting demeaning. I let it get to me, And I should know better than to do that with the keyboard Warrior. So feel free to f**** off and I’ll do the same.

Everything you just said… right back at you, buddy. Keep bragging about what you did to people who don’t know any better. I’ll look forward to the future.

Can I just speak for the rest of us and ask you two to give it a rest?
You’ve both insulted the other and just generally gone off the rails. There’s no pointing fingers. You’re both way out of line and probably close to getting banned.
It’s a beautiful weekend and the Dawgs won. Put down the keyboard and enjoy it!

He reminds me of Fromm with a dash of Murray. Impressive dude.

Stetson is a wonderful example of the power of confidence and moxie. He can’t change his physical attributes, but he gets 200% out of them. He is who all athletes should aspire to be.
When he rolled out to convert that huge 3rd down on the first scoring drive, it almost gave me chills. We got to see in live game action the kind of Baker Mayfield workout he gave the first team defense before the Rose Bowl. It’s clear those guys were not overhyping the legend of Stetson Bennet.

That play really seemed ti unlock things for the offense. It was a great play by Stetson.

Teammates love him. He’s the leader. Wish he had a touch more arm. He threw a ball scrambling that was the stuff.

He loves the game, and the rest of the team seems to love him. Pretty good combo.

And his performance against Arkansas looks much better a week later, too. They gave Costello and Leach fits.
Makes you wonder why he was buried so far down the depth chart and whether he even gets this opportunity if Daniels had been cleared earlier.
Bama is uber-talented but glitchy. That game is a toss up now.

Being steady or a basket case in a game doesn’t necessarily show up in practice, and he lacks the physical gifts you’d prefer. I think that’s pretty much it. It’s the same reason Trask was stuck behind Franks.

Everyone saying he didn’t throw a “hard ball” last week made no sense to me. Those throws over the middle were good, on-time, and got to the receiver plenty fast enough.
Does he have Mathis’s or Daniels’s deep ball? No. But he can throw it downfield about 50 yards. If thrown on time, that’ll be enough.
Lot of people here needing to apologize to Stetson Bennett the Fourth.

It’s an amazing story really. Even if it ended today. The teammates are bought in. They love him and that is key. I was telling my family last week that he wasn’t going to get it done against Auburn. I was eating crow and enjoying every minute of it last night. He looks so relaxed and poised in the pocket.
The key to our season is still being able to run the ball effectively. If we can do that, SBIV can take us to the promised land. Excited to see what happens next…

Don’t you think Bennett is the perfect QB for this system? It’s not a incredibly complex system, you just need to throw the ball on time to the open receiver with accuracy. He can do that. Nick Mullens doesn’t have a rocket arm (he does have a few more inches on SBIV), but he’s in the NFL right now because he showed what he can do in this very system.
I’m just seriously disappointed Kirby wouldn’t let him continue to throw in the second half. I think this kid has the moxie and the guts and all those wonderful intangible things we tend to love.
I think you hit the nail on the head, D: He’s a great leader and his teammates love him. You could see it during his interview when they all went running by shouting,”Mailman! Mailman!” getting him to crack a smile.

But in addition to arm strength, they also have to be concerned about his size in terms of taking hits & making it through a season. There’s no way he’s 5’11”. More like 5’8″ or 5’9″. At most.

Those of us around in the 50’s remember a QB with the Redskins named Eddie LeBaron who was said to be 5’6″, out of the University of the Pacific, who managed to have a good career in the NFL. I know, different times and different players but as the old saying goes: ” It’s not the size of the dog in a fight but the fight that’s in the dog”. Go SBIV!!

This is the kind of thing that I get tremendous happy feels. SBIV is a great story and I am so happy for him. What a game, all around. Now, let’s not have a letdown against the next urnge team.

Very proud of SB4….Let us not forget that last Sunday we were saying that the O line needed to step it up..they sure did what we wanted. Keep that running game going and protect Stetson and be thankful for that great defense.
