They went to Jarrett.

Here’s a brief statistical picture of Jarrett Guarantano:

But it’s Matt Stinchcomb who takes the real measure of the man.  When asked about Guarantano’s progress so far this season, he said, “The fact that he’s still in there, starting at quarterback, is a huge leap forward…”

He hasn’t been yanked from a game yet.  A legend is born.

Is that what they call ‘damning him with faint praise’?

Guarantano is Felipe Franks, but without the 10-win season….

  4. Those stats against top competition.

    Oh wait….

  5. Still a bit depressed that he averaged a full yard per attempt better than Fromm last season though.

In fairness, isn’t that kind of Stetson’s status?

Not yet pulled, but the fan base and coach are convinced he needs to be at some point.

    • Kinda seems that way. I don’t think he SHOULD be pulled but I’d be lying if I said I’m not worried that the walk-on will show up. That’s go away if he keeps playing well, though.

For me, the difference between Bennett and Guaratano is that Guarantano has had quiet a few bad moments to expect it from him and Bennett hasn’t.

      • *That will go away

      • Other than the fact he’s not a walk-on. I don’t know if he turned down smaller D-1 offers to walk on at UGA right out of high school.

He left and Kirby convinced him to come back not as a walk-on but as a scholarship player. He’s earned the respect to be a player on a full ride.

He has won the job for now based on his performance. If he throws up a stinker or gets beaten out by Daniels (or eventually Vandagriff) in practice, fine.

Stetson is my guy. My wife happened to walk in while he was be-bopping up and down the sideline during the Arkansas game and says: “OMG he is cute as a button. He looks just like you when you were in high school.”
How can I not pull for him?
