Sagarin’s computer is on drugs.

And I’ll have whatever it’s smoking.

I think Kirby has cracked the code this year. The offense is only going to get better, the D is lights out, and Bama and UF are fielding their worst defenses in a decade.

If Georgia plays a full two halves next Saturday, the game won’t be close at the end.

Feels a lot like 2014 to me. A very good team but the success is balanced on a razors edge.

We kicked the crap out of Auburn but had to recover from a half time deficit against UT and Arkansas who are both not that good. Neither of those felt inevitable, and Auburn has turned out to also not be very good.

I don’t know what to think.

I feel reasonably confident that Georgia will win. I wouldn’t have predicted that. Of course, if they don’t come out with the same kind of focus they had against Auburn, it could be rough.

I think the worst thing that could have happened to us was for Bama to get scared by Ole Miss. Cause I feel the same way you do after that game but if the team does we’re about to lose by 30.

I’m pretty sure that regardless of our feelings, he team will be fine. Nobody is suggesting that Georgia’s just going to roll their helmets out and win, regardless.

        • Georgia fan thinking. If bama whipped the piss out of OM 40-0 people would ve worried about that too. No matter what happens or how “be worried”. I used to even write about “the sky is falling” mentality. Kirby and Saban both coach one day and one game at a time. Each game is its own entity. The team that maintains high quality of play, focused on the moment the best will win.

OSU continues to impress every week. So what you will about how the big 10 handled this season, but they’ve yet to lose a game.

It doesn’t compute. OSU, who hasn’t played a game is #2? How? Auburn who needs the refs to help them win games is top #10? Nah…

anyone notice the decline of Bama’s dominant D since Kirby left? i don’t think it was ALL saban, maybe Kirby has something to do with it as well both with scheme and talent acquisition

I was thinking the same thing this morning. 2016 and 2017 they were lights out but then their starts a slow drop in total D. 2018 – 16th, 2019 – 21st, 2020 — currently sitting at 65th out of 75 teams. I think the ranking is an anomaly this year but you are starting to see a trend.

    • He didn’t want Kirby to leave. You know, a fist full of hardware is just not enough service. I think saban may be on the way out. People only go to work for him to get the Alabama check mark on their resume now and it seems everyone pretty much hates working for him. He has looked even more miserable this season than ever. I can’t imagine having him as a boss. A good and ascending coordinator has lots of great options right now. Why be miserable and T town sucks.

Pretty good summary but Tuscaloosa is actually a pretty decent town. Similar to Athens with good stuff to do.

        • I completely disagree. I hated that place. Its absolutely nothing like Athens. Thats a major reach.

I dated my wife while I was in Athens and she was in Tuscaloosa (2000-2004). I’ve lived in Bham since 2004 as well. I can say with absolute certainty that Tuscaloosa can’t hold a candle to Athens.

I can’t think of many college towns that can, with the caveat that the town is an actual college town and not a state capital or big city. So you know, that means Nashville, Seattle, and Atlanta are out of the running as are Austin and Madison.

For college towns, Athens can’t be beat. Auburn and Clemson have no downtown scene and Jortsville is a hole. I’ve actually heard tell that Columbia, MO is pretty special. I have a couple of friends who’ve said it’s actually a nice town. South Bend is, too. Oxford is probably as close as any college town can be to Athens.

I can’t imagine Saban remotely enjoys winning 63-48. Seems like it would be like being a talented chef and watching your restaurant gain acclaim for its amazing hotdogs. You’d take it but ask yourself what in the world you’re doing here.

Yes. Don’t believe the rat poison. They will be a force on Saturday and quite possibly kill us. How angry is CKS? That’s how angry CNS is, only worse with more autonomy.

I’m not taking the rat poison on Bama’s D. They had an off game and Ole Miss doesn’t get enough credit for their gameplan or their offensive talent. I don’t think our offense is as good as OM or not at this point. They’re gonna have to find a way to be better than they have been this year and do it in a week. LSU showed us in the SECC that defense can’t do it alone when you’re facing an equally talented team.

Still, I actually feel pretty good about the game. I really hope we can be loose since this game won’t make or break the season. There is a lot of football left but I really feel like this game is a preview.

I agree about Ole Miss’s offense and it being well designed but Bama did not tackle at all last night. That happened a lot last year too.

      Like

      • You’re right. They didn’t look typical Bama fundamentally sound several times last night. Hopefully that’ll carry over but I’m not counting on it. Bama still recruits at an elite level but it seems that they haven’t been the same since Kirby and even Pruitt left. I don’t have stats to back that up, though.

Of course, some of the change for Bama could be attributed to changes on their offense. It takes me back to Kirby relentlessly emphasizing his desire for complimentary football. We’re just a little offensive improvement away from being a perennial powerhouse.

Georgia’s not going to gain 600 yards, but they don’t need to. Bama doesn’t have Florida’s defensive problems, but they do have legitimate issue. Georgia has a good shot if they don’t give them anything.

There is simply no algorithm that can take data from real events and combine with hypothetical guesses to compute a rational list…UNLESS the designer imbedded his own personal bias. Sagarin has been, is, and will forever be a fraud and I hope CFB never contemplates using his and these other clown’s computer lists again.

  9. It has us 3-0 against Top 30? Am I reading that right? Arkansas is Top 30? He may as well throw that metric out the window in YOC (year of COVID).

I’m not buying Sagarin’s computer but I do think we’ve played a decent schedule so far, increasing in strength each week. And given that we had our best offensive output yesterday encourages me for the remainder of the season.

    I’ll make my prediction.

If Georgia beats Bama, no one around here will be calling this a “glorified scrimmage season” anymore.

A 10 game SEC regular season was never a scrimmage season to me. We have the chance to basically set a record unlikely to ever be broken (most SEC wins in a season). 11 if we go undefeated through the SECCG

Who would you (anyone) rate as the second best team in the SEC E right now? I’m thinking Kentucky or Tennessee. Both have the O lines to beat the handbags.

If Florida can’t fix their issues on defense, and I don’t think they can, Tennessee. Kentucky has too many problems on the back end of their defense and is too one-dimensional on offense to beat Florida…I think.

I’d feel much better about playing Bama if the had won that game 17 – 9 or something. They are going to come with their hair on fire and flames shooting out of Nicks nostrils.

It’s about fucking time. Too bad it was a season late, otherwise the Falcons could’ve had Rhule and Joe Brady. https://twitter.com/AtlantaFalcons/status/1315469861812924416
