“And Georgia fans, don’t be turds. Enjoy this. Soak it up. It’s awesome. If you don’t win this year, it’s still not a failure. It’s a heck of a run. Back-to-back in the Playoff era hasn’t been done. So, to ask for a third I feel like it’s gluttonous. I feel like it’s not OK. But we’ll be in the mix.”-- David Pollack, On3.com, 5/9/23
Ya blitzing, somebody’s open…..making’em pay. Cool as a cucumber back there.

It doesnt feel like that. Maybe our O line and QB are doing a lil better than we think at this area? Also explains middle being open and tipped balls. Anyone think it will change? I sure dont. Not until we kill 10 yard pass with 10 yard YAC over and over.

I’ve been impressed with the mailman’s decision making overall. At risk of sounding like a broken record, the consistently underthrown long-ball is a real worry, but he has shown a lot of experience/maturity in how/when he chooses to “give up” on plays that just aren’t there. But he’s really shined when he’s taken sacks or thrown the ball away several times when he could easily have tried to “make something happen” with his legs or arm when it wasn’t absolutely necessary.
And I bet he’ll never “bat a ball” away from the goal line to try to prevent a safety again. lol

I agree. He can throw it fairly deep but they tend to float which has lead to a few near INTs. If they can somehow get a little better deep ball out of him then our offense will probably be really good. Of course, most QBs probably don’t have a consistently good deep ball so I’m probably picking nits.

Just think how good we will be when we get a real QB!

A real chess match Saturday night. Does Bama blitz up the middle to pressure SBIV and take away long shots to Pickens? Or sit back in coverage and let him make mistakes? On the other hand, quick outs, WR screens, etc. are bread & butter for us to counter those up the middle blitzes, and our running game can make them pay for sitting back in coverage.
Ultimately, I think this is going to be more of a slugfest that defensive sh*tshow like Bama v. Ole Miss. Strength on strength across the board with ST and turnovers dictating the outcome. Under Kirby’s orders, Dawgs lose a close one to set up the SECCG rematch like we did Auburn. 😉

Alabama’s game plan is going to be simple. Press man coverage (like us they’ve got the players to do it) and stop the run. Same formula we employ and they are really good at it. SB4 won’t have near misses in INTs against ‘Bama. They will be actual interceptions so we better hope the decision making is good and the throws are on time and accurate. I don’t care what Ole Miss did – we are about to face the best defense we will see all season unless we have the pleasure of facing clemson in the playoffs

Every QB has near misses in every game.. Every QB has interceptions..You seem to expect more from him than you would a taller QB. I guess we could have gotten Felipe Franks. Yeah..he sucks but he’s tall. SB hasn’t turned it over yet…but when he does, they’ll be the groaners saying “I told you so” . I personally don’t care if his two feet tall and in a wheelchair as long as he’s winning and he IS.

I don’t think anyone can argue against the fact that our QB play has thus far been markedly improved this year. Is that a by-product of the change in OC’s? Certainly. Does Stet’s athleticism and ability to extend plays with his feet affect that change? Absolutely.

Yeah…he’s not Mahomes at throwing on the run (but who is, tho)? He’s certainly not bad at it. The kid can improvise.

I don’t know that our QB play has “improved” as much as our OC has just modernized our play calling. Would we rather have Fromm or SB running this offense?

Reading comprehension is hard. I somehow focused only on your first sentence and not the part where you acknowledged the change in OC. And yes, SB is more athletic than Fromm. They need to let him run more.
I’ll go back to my hole now.

I think we DO need a little improvement from our receivers on recognizing the correct hot route. We have had a few wrong ones run. Learning curve I know.

Consider Stetson is starting his third week with the one’s and I like where this is going. His quick throws rely on timing and he hasn’t really had the reps to get that down completely. I think timing also affects his deep throws as he is holding it too long. Get the ball out a fraction sooner and those deep balls will be complete.

This game no matter how much we want to win is not the end all for this team. We must beat FU and the rest of the East to get right back to must beat Bama in the SEC CG.
I’ll never trust the playoff committee to award us anything above the 5 spot without the SEC championship. Clemson, B10 and SEC champions are in. If the PAC 12 has an undefeated team no matter how few games they play rating/money dictates only 1 SEC gets in.
