They used the bye week to figure out they don’t trust Stetson Bennett.

“We got better in the passing game but we didn’t have to throw it. We were running well.”
It’s like he encapsulated his entire head coaching experience in two sentences.

Well, that was a win.

That wasn’t a shot a you, btw, Russ

No problem, I knew what you meant. Kirby is just reminding us once again that a win doesn’t have to be entertaining.

You got that right, big Russ.
I would like to stay awake to see it.

Stet came into the Arkansas game throwing quick strikes to the open receiver and moving the offense. Haven’t seen it since that game.

Well we aren’t going to start a new a new Qb against the gators so we are screwed.
Yeah..Peyton was just sitting there the whole game and Kirby wouldn’t play him. You should have called him and let him know.
Original, we went round and round early in the week on this topic. I admit that I have zero inside info. That being said, I have to believe that we have a more talented QB on our roster. What I also believe is that Kirby refuses to play talent or caution. Bennett is the less talented, but safest option as of today. Playing safe for the sake of playing safe will get you beat and will most certainly give you heartache. Kirby is old school and still believes in his hear of hearts that defense wins titles. That is 100% false. A great offense with a strong defense wins titles, not the other way around.

I mean, given the number of INT’s we’re seeing, how “safe” is Stetson really?
I get what you’re saying, but if you’re just going to hand it off, I think Mathis or Beck could handle that, right?
IMO, a wasted opportunity. Sure, leverage the run, but at least work some of the passing game and get a big enough lead that you can try a few other options.
O.K., was never in the stable to change UGA QB’s, this effort from Stetson Bennett IV said UGA needs a change at QB but can’t…which means for now UGA football is “constipated manball”, RB’s room has gotta luv that music…UGA football will not succeed when the opposition goes 6-8 in the box, UGA “OL” is really good, but not that really good…lets go #FTMF the hogtown dumbasses….#FTMF
Don’t think RBs like running into 9-man boxes.
I’d saw Zeus (sp) got a touchdown that way, right thru a 11 man box!!!
The defense is decimated. It’s going to be a long day next Saturday.
Aren’t you the one that hates cook so much and said “never should see the field”?
We wanted Saban and instead we got a slightly better version of Will Muschamp who is somehow even more stubborn than Will Muschamp.
We will never win a national title with this version of Kirby Smart.
He didn’t learn one damn lesson from all that time coaching under Saban.
When Saban switched up his offense and won a national title in 2015 with a more wide-open attack, I bet it pissed Kirby off something fierce.
I bet you’re clueless.
Nope. We lined up against a talented OL and played their game and won. The INT in the second half was on the WR Jackson. There were a couple balls that were under thrown, and we all know our QB is not capable, but, we beat a good team at their own game.
UF is another chapter. There is enough locker room material to get our team up for next week. Let’s see what they do tonight.

Corch I think you are wrong about Kirby. He played the game to stay healthy (that didn’t pan out) and we didn’t give Fla any good film. I still don’t think Kirby is dictating the offense or calling plays.
I’m just talking here but I don’t believe in that film thing so much. I feel it’s an old talking point making excuses for sub par performance

Spur, at some point we have to take Kirby at his word when he keeps on telling us who he is.
Yeah I was telling all the naysayers the past 2 weeks that Kirby’s words didn’t mean he was retreating to manball. I was obviously wrong.
Matchups….matchups….game planning. Kirby is playing to his strengths, just don’t think QB is one of them. But he is playing the one that gives him/us the best chance imo.
Inexperienced QB, inexperienced WR…..Kentucky has a helluva secondary. He played for the win and stayed away from it for the most part..& we got won.
Now, here’s hoping that we get healed up on ‘D and Pickens is healthy by next week.
Another win, we’re still in it…..always happy with a win.
Jesus, you’re a whiner.
Yep. Wanting a coach who is willing to adapt and isn’t so stubborn like a Will Muschamp or Les Miles who’d rather lose doing it his way instead of winning doing it another way is whining. Want to win a national title is whining.
2015 Bama was more “wide open” in that they weren’t really doing any I-formation or anything, but…Derrick Henry had 395 carries that season. and Jake Coker had 7 starts where he didn’t even crack 200 yards (and that was with Ridley to throw to).
Saban didn’t really embrace wide-open offense until Tua saved his ass in 2017
Honestly, I’m way more concerned about the defensive injuries than I am about our QB situation. Damnit!
Why not both?
It’s America you can only have one opinion and it cannot be nuanced

Bennett seems to have regressed significantly. He seems to get tighter with each passing game.
The Bennett we have seen the last couple of weeks is the one I remember from past Gday performance.
I think it’s just wrong to judge Kirby on Bennett. Newman was the guy Kirby expected with Monken’s help to create a high scoring offense.
What would have happened had Jake Fromm gone down for the season game 1 last year. Bennett under Coley’s leadership struggles to get to the Belk Bowl while FU wins the East.
Our QB room was much worse last year. Most top teams are like Clemson, tOSU or FU. Lose your starting QB which happened to Kirby when Newman walked away and your in trouble.
Uh, Clemson’s backup is a former #1 5-star (aka not a walk-on) and he threw for 300+ yards. OSU won a national title with their 3rd-string QB. Alabama beat us with their second-string in 2017 and 2018. I know it’s harder to hang onto good backups, but it’s not impossible.
We don’t even have a First string QB. What a mess.
bUt we’S wON!!1! KiRby gONna WhIP bAMa lIKe DAt.
Guess he didn’t want to show off any improvements before next Saturday.
As proven most recently, practice ain’t a game, and not working stuff out in a game to ” just get a win” almost always comes back around. If we beat Florida lime this, I’ll take it, it’d even be funny. But there’s absolutely no winning rings like this when the good opponents can hit dimes repeatedly. He’ll even bad teams like ole miss can do it. This was a match up of 2 bad teams on offense, one team with tremendously better talent all around.
Stumble our way through the season to start all over at QB again next year. Living on 9 or 10 wins but really never bringing a total team deal.
We are struggling because of QB play – WHICH ISN’T Kirby’s fault. He addressed the problem and Newman killed it dead. I guarantee Stetson never figured he would be our only option and likely thought he MIGHT see the field in mop up roles.
Yup, Newman screwed this team royally.
Yeah, but I still have nightmares where the Dawgs when the East ugly with Stetson, are more competitive in the Bama rematch but don’t win, and somehow Stetson is the entrenched starter in 2021 because he’s “experienced”
The question is why did we need Newman in the first place after recruiting **** and ***** at almost every position (including QB) for the past few years. THAT’S what I’m upset about.
Because Fromm bailed on us. If he had stayed then Mathis and Beck could have learned while watching from the bench.
Where’s Justin Fields? I lay this all at Kirby’s feet.
I lay it all at Kirby’s feet. He misplayed the Justin Field’s situation as badly as it could have been played.
I’ve been just as frustrated with the offense but think how that game could have gone of we HAD to throw the ball.
I don’t see the QB situation being great any time soon. Even if someone really steps up this season or next, it’s still probably going to take a couple years to solidify that position with quality depth. We really got ourselves into a hole at that position. I’m not even sure it’s really anyone’s fault but more a domino effect.
Didn’t sunshine win a NC as a freshman?
Do you think Kirby will allow the kind of offense it needs to win a national title, let alone let a freshman have full rein of that offense?
I’m gonna say a big, “No,” to both those questions. Kirby is who he is, and who he is is not Dabo.
He’s Les Miles. Or Muschamp 2.0. Either way, he’s a play not to lose coach, and a play not to lose will never win a national title in this era.
You don’t think choosing not to play fields was a key decision in where we are? He is playing pretty good for OSU.
Ugly but completely unsurprising.
Well that was oddly familiar.
It’s like paralysis through analysis. Seems like the more they coach up Bennett, the further away from his instincts he plays.
It couldn’t possibly be that dc’s now have film and know that stetson is going to have trouble pushing the ball outside the numbers could it?
Why does anyone who doesn’t go to practice, are not in film study, watched mathis vs. arky, hasn’t talked to Daniels just KNOW we have better options at qb?
If stetson is the best option, do we really want him throwing it MORE?
I mean if we had to sure, but if we can run the damn ball why would we put more on Bennett?
Live reps to give him practice prior to what will likely turn into a shoot out next week?
He had that two weeks ago.
You’ve got to get the W first.
I can only speak for myself on this, but I believe that sometimes it’s necessary to work on things that aren’t as efficient and successful such that when situations arise when you do need to do them you are somewhat proficient.
Thats what practice is for.
Games have to be about winning first.
Beating the gators was not today’s agenda.
Dwan proved practice isn’t a game.
Out of curiosity, are you “Derek from Columbus” on the Finebaum show?
I’ve never called the finebaum show.
Are you from Columbus?
I’ll take a shot at it. If we’re playing for 2020, yeah sure, play log boy. We’ll be 11-2 heading to Orlando. You like that outcome? Me, not so much. Since we have no one better (I’m with you, we don’t), play the kid you believe is your 2021 QB. We Are Not Winning Anything More Than The East. If that. Bennett is not the qb of the future. Why does he have to be the qb of the present?
Id ask, with the messed up nature of this year, does it even matter? I’ll give Clemson or Ohio state all the credit they can enjoy their national championship but mostly I don’t think many people care as much. It’s not a normal year. we absolutely have to crack the code on a quarterback management.
It would be the most Georgia thing ever to win a CFP Championship this year. But it’s not gonna happen. Even with the Wake kid, it was a long shot. Kirby’s in a tight spot. He absolutely has to win now and that puts the development of next years QB behind. Here’s another variable. Covid cases are rising rapidly. Spring ball is very much in danger. So we go into March with BM closed until maybe June and we’re exactly where we were in ‘20. Hoping. Hope is not a strategy.
Oh FFS. Stay in your basement and worry about CASES!!! the rest of us will go about our lives.
I couldn’t care less about the case numbers and I’m not the one reporting them. Nor am I responsible for the decisions that will be made regarding spring football. Someone is responsible for that and I’m sure you will highly effective in shouting them down, too. Fuck you, you punk ass bitch.
It matters because it’s going to kill Kirby on the recruiting trail if it somehow isn’t already. Top QBs don’t come to UGA to get passed over for SBIV. Beck has got to be kicking himself right now for choosing the Dawgs. Daniels, too. If Vandagriff doesn’t recommit to OK he’s blind, which isn’t a good thing for a QB to be.
You must be kidding or really misinformed. We have 3 4 star QB’s on campus and a 5 star committed.
And regarding recruiting have you even looked at the current and future commitments?
My prediction, and I’d love to be wrong, is that SBIV remains the starter and Mathis and Beck or Daniels leave after the season ends. As for BVG, I’m not convinced that a Class-A private-school QB is ready for SEC competition. Eason struggled mightily after lighting it up–he was Gatorade POY–at Lake Stevens. I’m excited about Mims, less so about Lovasea, but the Dawgs need a QB and WRs next season. Just my two cents, which probably aren’t worth two cents.
Bennett throws an early first quarter pick-6, the Gators shut down our one-dimensional offense, and the go into halftime leading 14-0, as our defense puts up a heroic effort in shutting down their offense.
JT Daniels comes out as the starter and runs Monken’s offense as designed. Finds the open receivers all over the field. The Dawgs score 21 unanswered points in the second half, the ‘turds get a fourth quarter field goal, but Daniels comes back to hit Darnell Washington on a huge pass up the seam for 50 yards for JT’s fourth TD pass of the day, and win 28-17.
Or, Kirby sticks with Bennett and we wind up losing 17-6.
*JT Daniels comes out to start the third quarter and runs Monken’s offense as designed.
I hope your crystal ball works better than mine, Corch.
Well, I made two predictions.
One of them was pie-in-the-sky Kirby finally sees the light.
The other was how I actually think the game will play out on Saturday.
I’ll leave you to decide which is which.
I see that now. Read your comment too quickly. I hope your pie-in-the-sky scenario is the one that plays out on Saturday.
Now that OK has Caleb Williams committed BVG probably won’t be a Sooner next season even if he wants to be.
I don’t get the Orlando talk at 11-2….if we lose twice to Bama, we won’t be in Orlando, nor will we play 13 games…
We don’t play Bama if Florida wins on Saturday.
How many explosive plays? Two? ? If we got to do this we do need some breakout runs. The TD run, what a great hole. But zeus hit it like he would be hit and stumbled a lil. Swift would have hit that at warp drive
Zamir had a great, great game and that’s your comment about him..that he almost stumbled on a great run? That’s some weak shit.
Apples and oranges, and why are you getting personal. A) zeus had his best game, b) THE TEAM lacked explosive plays C) zeus did stumble on that TD when it was nothing biy green grass. His feet aren’t as good since surgery and finally,
D) I was HUGE on zeus and his recruitment. I like him as a person. I route for him.
So stfu. You can still analyze errors
It was not an error. HE SCORED A TD, RUNNING 15 YARDS AFTER THE STUMBLE!
There isnt a playbook with a chapter that says “explosive”. It is just any play that is run successfully. We had way more today than in the past this season.
UK is a good team. Probably better than UF on the LOS. Just let it happen. Yeah, great teams like LSU last year just blow everyone out. That doesnt happen. Our ‘17 team did that. It wont happen again for some time. But, the Zeus/Milton/McIntosh/Cook tandem appears to be developing.
We didn’t have more explosive plays today than “in the past” unless by past your only using this season. Explosive plays has been identified as an issue by every single analyst stat cruncher, and even Kirby.
I just meant this season. Not trying to get your dander up, just saying, this conference schedule is hell and weekly development shows more than usual. It would have been awesom to win 42-3, but that isnt this year for us. Dont give up yet.
There is no dander. 🙂
You don’t know my cat.
I can be the biggest bitcher on this blog, but today I’ll say that Kirby’s building of a great defense and offensive line paid off. The running backs were money and that’s something to hang our hats on.
If the man doesn’t have a great QB ready, that’s that. He doesn’t.
I wasn’t the least bit surprised at the way this game went. Georgia left some points on the field, but what else is new?
What happened to all the assurances we gave each other that all we needed was a game manager at QB? I don’t think he was sacked all day, and he made some good runs. On the last interception, our receiver was held and quit on the route because he thought for sure the ref would call it. He didn’t.
Not a great performance, but Kentucky isn’t chopped liver, esp. at home with nothing to play for except the upset.
I still think Kirby pretty much has to play manball…and the running game was money. And I don’t think Florida will have the offensive line muscle that Kentucky has.
Heck yeah…I’d like to have a better QB, but hats of to the kid for not getting down on himself like so many of you have.
You saved me a lot of typing, o ugly one.
Game managers don’t squander scoring opportunities with interceptions. Would that Bennett were a game manager. It’s not his fault he isn’t as talented as we’d like, but he’ll almost certainly need to play better against Florida.
I wonder if we could go ahead and get Paul Johnson as an associate OC.
Highly unlikely we win the Nat’l Championship this season- we don’t have the QB to beat Alabama, Clemson, or both. Of course, we haven’t won a Nat’l title since the Carter administration so I don’t see the need to whine and cry as this is nothing new.
That Kentucky team is average as grits and their QB wasn’t capable of completing a pass longer than 7 yards. All we needed to do was run the ball and not do anything foolish and everyone in Butts Mehre knew that. This game was just a glorified scrimmage before the real battle which is next week in Jax.
Now, if we come out with the same game plan against Florida, it isn’t working, we don’t adjust, then I will be pissed. But, we didn’t need to do anything today other than run the ball and pass a little bit. Kentucky had no shot of beating us with that offense they trotted out there today.
I am looking forward to hopefully sticking it to the Gators once again.
we won. all objectives are still within our control.
now go beat the booger eaters.
DAMN YOU JAMIE NEWMAN AND WHATEVER ASSHAT AGENT GOT INTO YOUR EAR.
Just getting that out of the way.
Ain’t that the truth. If we had a player at qb we’d be dangerous.
Still young and thin at wr especially with George in athens.
Although I agree if it was that easy for him to leave he wasn’t all in any way.
Yea….that 3 star Wake Forest QB was taking us to the promised land…..athletic, big arm, muscular & tatted, historical wins in HS & ACC…..whatever. That boat, thankfully, sailed.
Yeah but he could have at least NOT taken all those 1st team reps.
Well, we dusted off 2019’s offense and gave it a spin.
57 plays, 13 passes, 2 picks.
Against Kentucky. Ken. Tuck. Y.
They are a good SEC team. I would say they’re better than FL. We cover Pitts, same game.
“ They used the bye week to figure out they don’t trust Stetson Bennett“
More to do with what they had in the secondary. A win, is a win, is a win……they all count the same.
The injury report is gonna be a big deal this week.
This is a replay of last year on the offensive side of the ball. We can Keep hoping for the O to gel, but it Ain’t gonna happen.
We are who we are now. Sure miracles happen like setting an ncaa record for completions, but thats very much the exception. I hope we can keep getting better. But it feels and eyeballs more like getting worse. Certainly not leaping forward either way.
Pickens with 0 receptions is coaching malpractice.
Monken and Pickens are probably thinking the same thing: Why did I make the trip?
The point stands, though. Hard to imagine why QBs, WRs, or OCs would want to be involved with Georgia. Goobye Todd Monken,we hardly knew ye.
Anyone know if Coley is still available for next year?
It actually proved to the pickins haters how valuable he is and how much he’s needed
Look man, I do not want to piss you off. Pickens is the automatic double team for everyone we play. When he was out, there was no double team on any of our WR unless they chose Jackson. Pickens taking two defenders was important.
Thats what i just said. “Proves how much needed he is”.
Meant for W Cobb
Thanks for playin’, Sparky.
9-6 (or 14-3) against a team with a good offense is one thing. Against UK, a team averaging 176 yards rushing per game and 119 passing, it’s just sad.
I honestly can’t imagine which team has completely wasted it’s 2020 season more: Blank’s Falcons or Kirby’s Dawgs.
Blank’s mistake was not stepping in to do what needed to be done LAST SEASON so the Falcons could hire Kevin Stefanski who runs that Shanahan West Coast Offense to come in here and get Ryan and Julio rolling again.
Kirby’s mistake is like fucking Groundhog’s Day. He let Monken run his offense for four games. FOUR GAMES. Does Monken even make it to the bowl game before he quits?
Big-time Georgia sports seemed to be governed by a bizarre (or maybe not so bizarre; it’s Georgia, after all) conservatism. I get being conservative at U. Bama, which has a history of winning championships. You want to uphold that tradition. But the Falcons have 0 SB titles and the Dawgs haven’t won a nat’l title since ’80 and the Braves have won exactly 1 WS since moving to ATL. Try stuff! Experiment! Go crazy! The worst that happens is that you lose, which you’re probably going to do anyway.
Big-time Georgia sports SEEM to be governed by a bizarre (or maybe not so bizarre; it’s Georgia, after all) conservatism. I get being conservative at U. You can say that again!
At least those teams played for titles (one way or another)…..
The Falcons still would’ve been hamstrung by Dimitrov’s inability to scout defensive talent for crap. They’re a bit better without QBall, but they’re still pretty terrible on defense.
Dude, Dimitroff would’ve been gone, too.
They were a packaged deal. GM’s don’t get to make the same mistake three times. They usually get two chances to hire the head coach. Dimitroff didn’t even get two chances. The only reason why he kept his job is because DQ liked him. If Quinn wanted, he could’ve brought his own guy with him in 2015. That’s how much Blank loved DQ.
He must have had even better binders than Little Jimmy Mora did. Full of all kinds of sayings, bon mots, and bromides, if I were to guess.
With normal owners, sure. But Blank promoted McKay instead of firing him, and now he’s still around. So while they both should’ve been gone a year ago, I wouldn’t trust Arthur to have done it
That’s what I’m trying to explain to my bookie.
Starting at noon is really tough for the hawt takes. Let us see what happens. AU looks better than they have all year, at the halfway mark. LSU looked like world beaters last week. We looked awesome for a couple weeks, UK is not a given W for anybody. UF has been shut down, they were flying high for a minute, not for long though, everything is out. The single constant is roster and complimentary ball. We can do that, if nothing else, lol.
It is fun to listen to Gary apologize for weak football though. This CBS game is weak.
I am disappointed i only heard “Kavosiey Smoke” one time.
And still mad at Kirby for not getting tank bigsby.
I think we were poorly coached. We obviously had things to work on offensively. Instead of taking the opportunity to work on those things in game we squandered the opportunity and did a rerun of last years KY game. Our excuse last year was the weather. Maybe it was to sunny today? Just a pitiful wasted opportunity. I’m starting to believe as good as Kirby is at building a program and recruiting he’s equally bad at the coaching part of being a head coach.
I think he’s stubborn as hell. He doesn’t see the need to make certain necessary adjustments. SBIV is a scout-team QB. I don’t care if Newman bails two weeks before the season begins. Where’s our DJ U? Is BC a worse team than UK? Probably. But DJ lit BC up. I swear to God, I think Kirby has QBs feeling like they’re not allowed to throw the ball.
Seriously, can anyone tell me how the last two seasons of Georgia football is any different from Les Miles last few seasons at LSU?
Again, I think it’s a good and troubling comparison. Except I don’t remember Miles ever saying, as Kirby basically said, “The best games are the ones in which we score the least points and win.” 2-0! 3-2! Woo! Kirby seems to be more convinced than ever that defense wins nat’l championships. It doesn’t. Not anymore. If any team beats Bama, OSU, or Clemson 9-6 in 2020, I’ll eat my hat, shirt, pants, socks, and shoes. You beat those teams by scoring in the 40s–high 30s at the very least. As the Senator pointed out last week, the next time Kirby’s Dawgs score 30 or more against Bama will be the first.
FEWEST points. Damn. Too much/too little beer.
Miles went 8-4 and 9-3 then was fired at 2-2.
Miles had to play Bama in the West. We get the easier East.
Did he lose 7 games to Bama in 3 years? That’s a tough schedule.
Siskey told you Miles was 19-9 his last 28 games. You retorted that he had to play Alabama. Correct . Miles played Alabama twice in that 28 game stretch and lost both. By contrast, Smart is 22-6 his last 28 games, but the “had to play Alabama “ argument does help you as Smart has played Alabama twice in those 28 games, the same number of times as Miles played Alabama in the range of games Siskey cited you.
Miles was 1-2 against Auburn in that stretch, including 0-2 at Auburn. Smart was 2-0 in that stretch. Miles was 0-1 against Notre Dame. Smart was 1-0.
I do see a different between Miles and Smart in the last two and a half years with Smart much better.
It’s a scandal and a shame that the Dawgs don’t have a 6 star QB. Yeah I reckon we can Blame Kirby for that. But dammitman! It’s not like he kicked any of them off the team. The Dawgs are doing about as good as possible considering the circumstances. Winning doesn’t suck so…
GO DAWGS! Beat those shit sliders.
So Clemson has to play their true freshman QB and all he does is throw for over 300 yards. I guess we keep getting the wrong 4 and 5 star QB recruits.
Nope. They have Dabo, a coach who plays to win.
We have Kirby, a coach who plays not to lose.
Correction. Briefly plays to wins, then pisses himself when it’s working.
I could see him getting conservative if aggression wasn’t working. But… when you have a lead suddenly pulling into your shell…
Or, today, being up 14-3 and D playing lights out, for some damn reason NOT practicing 2 min offense with each quarterback available and getting more game reps.
Why do we need to shorten the game vs Ky?
Today Kirby played juuuuust enough to win the turkey. He didn’t have to pull it all out.
The HUGE LSU QB just had his pass batted and intercepted.
Yeah, he’s a 6’5″ midget! Need a taller QB!
I am pro-Kirby, but this was the worst coaching job he has performed to date. He probably cost us the SEC East today, and the SEC Championship would be a miracle at this point.
How so? They won if I’m not mistaken. Oh, right, they were supposed to “work on thei passing game”. Because it definitely would have helped to let a guy who threw 2 picks on 13 attempts attempt more throws.
No shit, man. I wanted to see SBIV’s passing game get some real experience. But that Kentucky secondary is better than I realized. I was actually happy to get out of there with the eleventh straight victory over the ‘cats.
Dude, we let a bunch of 2 and 3 stars injur the shit out of our all-world defense. Now we are short-manned for UF.
Well, that was a shitty strategy. I don’t know what they were thinking setting those guys up to be injured like that.
Worst win evah!
Glad you’re not overstating anything….
Yikes, this lsu D
They held up okay for much of the first half, but when they collapse, they don’t mess around.
Yup, this went sideways fast.
Kirby has a roster pretty close to Bama’s, but coaches like he has Kentucky’s roster.
Oh man… that one hurts.
Kirby does not have Mac Jones.
Or Justin Fields
You are kidding aren’t you?
Yeah it’s all Kirby’s fault we won another game. Terrible coaching even Ray Charles or an SEC ref could see If we don’t throw the ball we can’t lose this game. I’m OK if we win every game and never cover.
If we win ugly next week I’m OK with that too. Just beat FU I don’t care how.
Each week just find a way to win. Always amazed at how many fans complain about a win.
Our chance at a NC left with Newman.
The best thing going for UGA football right now is Kirby. You’ve got to have the kind of talent he’s recruiting and signing to compete for championships.
The worst thing going for UGA football right now is Kirby. His program management ethos is going to kill his recruiting soon because athletes don’t want to play boring ball that doesn’t win championships.
Mr. Master Recruiter is shooting himself right in the foot, repeatedly. If you’re going to lose, lose a shootout. If you’re going to win, win a blowout. 14-3 vs. UK and 41-24 vs Bama tells top QBs and WRs, “Stay away from UGA.”
Yea like that bum Brock Vandagriff.
How? There is a complete team of talented players, all we need is a QB. I would be telling my kid to get to Athens as fast as possible.
Forget it Jake, it’s only Chinatown. . .
Carson Beck, a high 4-star, hasn’t seen the field. Daniels hasn’t taken a snap. Instead the starter is SBIV, who completed 9 passes against UK. 2 of them were picks. If BVG signs with UGA, God bless/help him.
Go see the chaplain and get your card punched, you are authorized one personal problem per day.
Call CKS then. He is the man that can cure your problems.
SBIV’s QBR vs. UK was 39. If we don’t have a better QB on the roster, we have a big problem and Kirby is to blame. If we DO have a better QB on the roster and aren’t playing him, we have a big problem and Kirby is to blame.
this was my point below stated more succinctly
Also, instead of sitting on a 14-3 lead, trying to score more would have made it possible to get other QBs some reps.
Yes. Beck and Daniels must be loving life.
no, none of Bennett’s completions were “picks.”
Dumb mistake. Again, too much/too little beer.
We’re gonna get our balls fed to us next week if this offense isn’t sorted out this week. Rare? Medium? Well done?? How do you like them???????
Yea, they are just kicking the shit out of Mizzou. . . down 7-6.
Throw. Away. Season.
Why? To go through the same thing next year?
Yea because you are forced to be a Dawg, right?
What I meant was why should it be a throw away year? Try to win this year. The defense will not be aa good next year.
Roger, mea culpa!
Ha. I always get this same response from someone when I post this.
I consider it a throw away season more for external factors than for the team’s performance.
Can’t wait to see Mathis star at Ohio State while we go with Stetson again for consistency coming off a 10-2 or 9-3 year…
I’m happy for a win, ugly or not, even if all the ugly is showing. We can get rid of the ugly, but can’t go back and play Kentucky again if we had lost. So, yeah, give me the win! Rosters seem to change daily with CV and injuries. It’s going to come down to what team can stay healthy the longest. Hopefully, it’s the Dawgs. We have to stop playing with ‘just enough’ effort, and we need an outstanding QB next year. Meanwhile, hunker down! GO DAWGS!
Well, Mond is lighting up Arkansas, so unless he goes full Hyde in the second half, I will have been almost completely wrong about the A&M-Ark game.
Big fight at the half of Fla-Mizzou. Expect suspensions.
No suspension unless the player gets another unsportsmanlike penalty.
With punches thrown? They said coaches too, who do we know on the gator staff who might do something like that??
“All other disqualifying fouls such as fighting, two unsportsmanlike conduct infractions in the same game and flagrant personal fouls will now be reclassified as fouls requiring ejection. Players ejected for them will still be required to leave the field..”
Hell of a jam
Are they going to suspend those f’ers? That’s like half UF’s team throwing punches out there.
I was wrong.
I made a mistake. 3 players were ejected
Which team, the cheap shot on Trask started it but there was some serious hookin. I think they can review more after the fact too.
Ha, Grantham holding Mullen back!!
I’m worried. What has happened to 3rd and Grantham?
Missouri happened … they’re marginally better than Kentucky.
Mullen is a complete and total tool.
But he knows how to coach an offense.
Fine. SBIV is the “best” we’ve got. That’s still the problem if he’s the “best” we’ve got. I get it, Newman bailed and that put us in a tough spot. But when you have to go all the way to your 4th string as QB1… that is an issue. I sure hope you all are right that we didn’t need to throw much to beat KY, but don’t you think we should’ve worked out a few more passing game kinks? You think all of a sudden FU is the team to test out a new and improved offense? Because if you think we can get in a boat race with them and that SBIV is gonna lead us to victory…. I guess I’ll be happy to eat that crow. Kirby is who Kirby is and at this point, I hope he can evolve. At some point, he’s not gonna recruit this same talent, certainly not offensive talent playing the offense he’s so comfortable with. I’m just glad that I don’t invest so much of my heart into the Dawgs these days. I can’t take the continued heartbreak.
Fields just threw another dime for a TD in that high school offense
He’s 20/29 for 219 yards, 3 TDs and 0 ints
Give it up. He left. Kirby tried to convince him to stay at the risk of distracting the rest of the team during the Sugar Bowl.
Fields quit. He had a chance to come back the next year and beat Fromm out.
LOL ok my guy
It’s the defining decision of Kirby’s career so far and will define him until he wins a NC
Fromm finished 2018 as the third-best QB in CFB. The only two better were Tua and Lawrence.
If you’re sitting the third-best QB in all of CFB for a freshman who doesn’t know the offense, you’re a fucking moron.
You’re a fucking moron if you’ve watched Fields last year and this year so far and still think CKS made the right choice.
What is with some of you people and ignoring every and all context?
Fields had a great year playing in a offense specifically designed to highlight his strengths and mitigate his weaknesses. Do you honestly believe Fields would’ve been that good playing in the Chaney-Coley offense? If you do, you’re an fucking moron.
And again, IF YOU SIT THE QUARTERBACK WHO FINISHED THIRD IN THE NATION in 2018 THEN YOU ARE A FUCKING MORON.
Tell me you sit the third best QB in 2018. Tell me that’s what you do. Stop talking about 2019. 2019 doesn’t exist in 2018. In 2018, do YOU sit the third best QB in college football?
If you say yes, you’re a liar.
Do I sit Fromm in 2018 at halftime of LSU game? Goddamn right I do.
They didn’t even let Fields throw a pass. I’d be skeptical I was getting a fair shot to start after that too.
If you want to talk about Kirby demanding an offense that is far more complicated than a college offense needs to be from 2016-2019, that is a different conversation worthy of having. And even now, in bringing in someone to install a much simpler offense, he’s still demanding manball bullshit. I’m ready to agree with you that Kirby has been nothing but wrong in the kind of offense he wants to run.
But, if you actually say that Kirby should’ve benched the QB who won the 2017 SEC Title, was key in the 4th Quarter comeback to tie the Rose Bowl and get to overtime, and who was the third best QB in all of college football in 2018, then you lack the basic intelligence for rational thought.
I’m gonna regret this, but… no Kirby shouldn’t have benched Fromm. But he should have put in an offense, tailored some of it in some capacity in 2018, so that Fields was still on our roster this season. Fields may have left regardless because Kirby wasn’t gonna give a whole lot of time to Fields over Fromm, but he’s also paid millions of dollars to figure this out. Much the same way I’d say that we shouldn’t be sitting on SBIV as QB1 on Halloween 2020, regardless of COVID/Newman leaving. It’s a shitty hand Kirby’s been dealt for sure.
You want something to worry about. Here you go.
Oh my God… I pray he gonna be okay!
Holy shit. I hope he’s okay. What possesses a person who’s body remaining uninjured for future job prospects is doing driving a motorcycle is beyond me. Perhaps it was one of those scooters that have been so popular with players over the years?
Maybe that is all they can afford to drive.
Massive defensive loses and offensive malaise.
Florida game is looking more tenuous.
I’m not convinced our defense will hold them under 28.
I’m not sure our offense will get to 28.
It’s late, so let me weigh in. I did not see the game as it happened, but I did check the score occasionally and 7-3 at the half made me wonder wtf was going on. Ditto for the final score. Then I read Emerson’s article where I believe he said Ky ‘gashed’ the UGA defense. So then I watched the game.
I admit it was not great, but I’m not slashing my wrists just yet. KY averaged 3.5 yds rushing which is more than it should have been, but that wasn’t exactly gashing us. Bennett’s 2 INTs were killer. One was completely his fault for several reasons but the other one I thought was at least partially on Rosemy. Point being without those two gaffes it’s probably a 28-3 game. At least 20-3, which would have been about what you would expect on the road at Lexington. Hell, I recall people here opining before the season that Kentucky was a trap game and might be our toughest test outside of Bama. Bennett can play better; maybe if he hadn’t been so successful vs. Arkansas (and the next 6 halves of football) we would more desperate, but changing horses right now going into Jax is a level of desperation we don’t need. It’d be like starting Bauta again. I’m a lot more worried about defensive injuries. We do have some depth there, though, and it’s always possible that some injuries may be minor but they didn’t see the need to take any chances.
So, it’s not great, but it is fixable. We can still beat those FMFs. I am going to console myself and finish listening to Asleep at the Wheel on ACL. Damn, they’re good. Can’t believe Ray Benson was ever as young as he looked in that first ACL show.
This fucking game and damned Kirby.
It’s almost 0200 and I can’t sleep because I can’t stop thinking about this fucking game and damned Kirby Smart.
We are never going to win a title with this play not to lose coach. This fucking Les Miles wannabe.
WHY CAN’T WE FUCKING GET IT RIGHT JUST FUCKING ONCE???
Welp, when 2025 comes around and some one else is our coach, maybe they’ll be the right one.
I fucking doubt it.
Wait… why did the clock go from 0159 to 0100?
Oh shit… fall back is tonight???
Dude. Relax. It’s not worth losing sleep over.
Corch, we all want a national title. I still believe Kirby is the guy who can deliver it. I don’t know (and you don’t either) if he and Monken decided the best way to win yesterday was to win the line of scrimmage and not give Kentucky anything cheap. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a lot of preparation done these last 2 weeks for the Handbags … some on the practice field but a lot in the coaches’ offices. Take away the 2 turnovers (especially the batted ball), and that game is very different.
Am I happy with where we are at the QB position? No way. I would have thought JT Daniels would have gotten a really serious look by now. Until we have a QB ready to be a pass-first team, we are going to be a physical, run-first offense.
Stoops wanted to limit the number of possessions, and Kirby was more than happy to play the same game.
You’ve got issues, get them checked..
Georgia safety Richard LeCounte was involved in a traffic accident after the team returned to Athens, Georgia, from Lexington, Kentucky, on Saturday evening, Athens-Clarke County Sgt. John Q. Williams confirmed to ESPN.
There were multiple vehicles and a dirt bike involved in the accident, Williams said. LeCounte suffered undisclosed injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
LeCounte, a preseason All-America selection and team captain, had 13 tackles and three pass breakups in Georgia’s 14-3 victory earlier Saturday against Kentucky.
Lots of things are much more important than football.
This definitely reminds us of that.
Prayers up for RL for a speedy and full recovery, football be damned.
At least we’re not Florida. Lolz.
Keep it classy, Dan Mullen.
After the Bama loss, many of us commented that we hoped Kirby wasnt going to shutdown the pass game like after the USCe loss last year. Little did we know that this 2nd act of 2019 validated that we have the Russian captain RED OKTOBRE at the helm.
Congrats Kirby, your now Paul Johnson. Thanks for yesterdays middle finger bird flip.
WRs dreaming of going to the NFL would hardly plan on coming to UGA after this disastrophe.
Monken just called his agent looking for his next Gig. Wouldnt be surprised if VandaGriff, Beck, Mathis, Daniel all go shopping again.
All we can say is good luck in Jax with that.
They scored 3.
So I read back, the hand wringing over a win is RIDONK.
Yes, most of the time nothing is as bad as it looks, but after an off week and we come out looking like that offensively while Bama and OSU continue to roll (Bama had their 2nd string in at the start of the 4Q)… what exactly are we supposed to feel good about?
Heh. Sure, sure… but do you think we can win long term playing that way? My inner Munson is welcome to any rays of sunshine.
At 5 games in, I think we’ve seen enough to know that this is not the year. Florida is gonna get us next week, and we should finish at 8-2, bypassing another thumping by Alabama on our way to some mid-tier Florida bowl (Citrus, Outback, Gator). That’s what this team looks and has performed like. We’re not getting better week-to-week. If anything, our weaknesses are showing.
Stetson = good story
Zeus = good story
I would prefer this great story “Dogs Win It All”
“We have a long way to go to get to where we need to go,” Smart said. “That’s nothing to do with Oregon. That’s nothing to do with anybody we play. That’s to do with the Georgia Bulldogs...”-- Kirby Smart, AJ-C, 8/14/22
