What’s going to happen tonight? Your guess is as good as mine, but I will say that a 25-point spread seems awfully generous considering that regardless of which quarterback is called on to start, Kirby Smart’s naturally conservative instincts are likely bound to kick in.
No, I don’t expect Georgia to run the ball as much as Mississippi State will pass it, but I will be surprised if we see the total number of pass plays Todd Monken calls much north of twenty.
On the other side of the ball, how will Georgia defend the Air Raid? My guess, based on last year’s SECCG, is that Smart and Lanning will be more pragmatic than the way Kirby talked in the presser this week and play a lot of three-man line, supplementing the linebackers in pass coverage with six defensive backs.
If Georgia can dodge the turnover problems that have plagued it of late, this should be a comfortable, if boring, win. We’ll see how it goes.
