Envy and jealousy, livin’ the dream edition

DavetheDawg is my hero.  He should be yours, too.

I can’t imagine anything more 2020 than that.  You listening, football gods?

This is hilarious. I actually think we should let them get close enough to have her kick a field. No real rush on the snap. Then every member of our team should go out there and congratulate her.

Truth is, we haven’t defended the wheel route in 20 years.

At the risk of being labeled a misogynist (again) I must respectfully disagree. Looked slick to my eyes. However, I normally don’t pay attention to football pants with the exception of the rare penalty of pad above the knee.

    • I don’t get this sentiment. Do you think she wants to be handed a free kick with no rush to prove some point? She’s a star athlete on the woman’s soccer team. If she wants to set an example for some little girl watching and thinking I can do that then she needs to do it for real. This is by no means advocating an opposing player targeting her. Just let her play and let her see if she can measure up. On kickoffs they need to decide whether she should head for the sidelines or hang back like every kicker does, fill a lane, and go low at the runner if the opportunity arises. She wants to be another player, not a crystal glass exhibition model. Anything else is not fair to her or our Dawgs who didn’t ask to be in an exhibition either. Let her kick, and if she scores against the rush, then applaud. It would be the only way to call this a real achievement.

There is one scenario about a female kicker that could get out of hand. It’s a bad snap, kicker falls on the ball and defenders fall on her with hands going to places that they shouldn’t. If females play it will happen. They should be prepared for it. You know guys are going to grab a feel if they can.

  2. Not too great at covering the 5 yard slant over the middle either.

How may licks does it take to get the the center of a tootsie roll pop? How many angels can stand on the head of a pin? How how do the DAWGS cover the wheel route? Age old questions that have kept scholars busy for decades with no answer in the foreseeable future.

Here’s an example of a real female kicker, not a PC publicity stunt.

I remember watching her kick during warmups for Riverdale high school in the Georgia dome at the semifinals. She didn’t have a huge leg, but was technically very sound and pretty damn accurate from up to about 40 yards out. As you can read in the article, she earned her way with scholarships to two schools and won the job as the short-medium range kicker all four years she played. She even earned special teams captain her last two years. And I’m willing to bet she did it without a hokey, unearned, tone deaf rah-rah halftime speech her first game.
