By now, you know the drill, right?
Here’s the conference order by net yards per play, with the offensive ypp and defensive ypp, respectively, in parenthesis.
As I’ve been doing, I also show the week-to-week change in the net figure (stats via cfbstats.com.)
- Alabama: 3.08 (8.09; 5.01) [net change: +.15]
- Florida: 1.76 (7.35; 5.59) [net change: +.11]
- TAMU: 1.02 (6.39; 5.37) [net change: +.01]
- Georgia: 0.83 (5.81; 4.98) [net change: DNP]
- Arkansas: 0.43 (6.03; 5.60) [net change: -.15]
- Missouri: 0.18 (5.88; 5.70) [net change: +.07]
- Ole Miss: -0.04 (7.02; 7.06) [net change: DNP]
- Auburn: -0.20 (5.68; 5.88) [net change: -.12]
- Kentucky: -0.44 (5.10; 5.54) [net change: +.23]
- Mississippi State: -0.70 (4.90; 5.60) [net change: DNP]
- Tennessee: -1.07 (4.90; 5.97) [net change: -.20]
- South Carolina: -1.21 (5.35; 6.56) [net change: -.01]
- LSU: -1.60 (5.49; 7.09) [net change: -.11]
- Vanderbilt: -2.44 (4.78; 7.22) [net change: DNP]
Here’s the current order for turnover margin.
- +8: Arkansas
- +7: Kentucky
- +6: Alabama
- +4: TAMU
- +3: Auburn
- +2: Florida
- +1: LSU
- -2: Georgia, Ole Miss
- -3: Missouri, Tennessee
- -4: South Carolina
- -8: Mississippi State
- -9: Vanderbilt
And, observations:
- This is the first week of the season that the team order did not change, for what that’s worth.
- There is a legitimate chance that LSU finishes the season with the worst defensive ypp in the conference.
- Is it fair to say, based on net ypp and turnover margin, that Arkansas’ record should be better than 3-6? I think so.
- “Alabama is ridiculous” is an evergreen comment at this point.
Seems UGA vs Mizz is an evenly matched game with Mizz favored to win as they home field advantage ?

Home field advantage means almost nothing this season. Sagarin, for example, weights it by less than a point.

Makes sense. But I think this game is no pushover. Don’t trust our team or coach this year

I expect Missouri to be a real test, both offensively and defensively, even if they gave up half a hundred to Arkansas. Need to see if we can actually be balanced, offensively, and I expect the D to get seriously stressed.

Well, Arkansas did get jobbed at least once by the refs, so they likely should be 4-5, with a legit chance at 5-4.

Would love to schedule TAMU for the 19th. Maybe possible if Vandy folds and UT fires Pruitt.
