He’s suffering some kind of delayed onset brain cramp caused by Eric Stokes knocking his soul out of his body at Kneeland last season.

I would imagine it makes perfect sense if you’re a self-centered, selfish, silly sumbitch lacking situational awareness. Without the fans and their financial support Maurer would still be down in Ocala dodging cow pies in a pasture for fun. That shithead has already proved to be mentally fragile. He didn’t do himself any favors with that rant.

Whether he should be the one putting himself in the middle of this is a different question.

Should a politician call the voters fucking stupid?

Probably not in his long term interest. It is true though. Thus, “he’s not wrong.”

My point was that he accurately described the fan/team relationship.

          That is all. Now DISMISSED!!

Uses diatribe to present a dumb take as fact. I guess fans are stupid. You’ve convinced me.

              You need convincing? Really??

There’s an old saying in poker: “If you’re sitting at the table and you don’t know who the sucker is, its you.”

So this interaction is the equivalent of me saying at a poker table “there’s a sucker here” and your retort is “sure. Really? Come on! I’m so convinced! Lol!”

Its ok though. We already knew.

Oh it’s clear who the sucker is.

Perhaps if you double the length of your goalpost moving response it’ll make you right.

Hey, if you think the 90000+ fans in the stands have an equal or better take on football than the players and coaches in the locker room, I’m all for you. I also think a vasectomy ought to be considered.

After all it would give you more time to take notes during the call in sessions of the Paul Finebaum show.

So much to learn, so little time….

Football players ages 18-21 are never lacking perspective. Really good point. I can’t think of a single example to the contrary (and definitely not the tweet above).

I guess you win. We’re all just grateful that your take on player’s takes are superior and factual. D-III Derek isn’t one of the 90k, he just drops by to grace us with wisdom.

I said he isn’t the right messenger. I made that clear. Reading is fundamental.

My point that he was factually correct.

Fans are morons. They are not part of the team. And they don’t want to be.

If a player loudly booed a teammate/coach for a perceived error he’s done. And should be. Idiot fans think its their God given right to boo whenever their stupid brain feels the urge to.

                  See? Different….

That’s all the kid said. He was right. Its not his message to deliver tho.

All I said: he’s not wrong.

And he isn’t. Since then only goal post moving has been on the part of people suggesting that I’m saying he, as a current player, was right to tell the truth. I haven’t. Ive said the opposite.

What no one has or could do, is say that if fictional Tennessee fan named “Dave” from Johnson City said the same damn thing, that he would be wrong.

Because Dave would be on point. Thats my point.

                  No more. No less.

Moron fans are too stupid to realize that they’re moron fans, and some apparently don’t understand that subjectivity (regardless of how hard you believe) doesn’t make an opinion a fact. That’s next level stupidity regardless of the length of your next response.

The answer to that would be an opinion.
                  That is a fact.

So you’re contribution to the discussion is to point out that if a person says:

                  “Its cold”

You can’t agree with that statement as its just a subjective opinion.

                  The only acceptable response is:

                  “Its 3 degrees Fahrenheit.”

And here I thought you were being hard headed.

                  Thanks for the clarification.

Of course you can agree, but you don’t have to because you might not feel that it is cold. If that specific disagreement is foreign to you it suggests you have an incredible lack of experience with women.

  6. That’s sort of like telling your paying customers that you don’t have the right to write that 1-star review on Yelp because you didn’t make up the menu, buy the ingredients, cook the food, and serve the customer.

I get these guys work their asses off through the years and don’t deserve to be trashed on blogs or social media (they are amateurs for goodness sake). That’s why I really don’t like it when people have trashed some of our players over the last season and a half. The coaches frankly deserve most every bit of grief that is thrown at them.

I’m sure Maurer and the rest of their football program loved how they were treated around Knoxville during their win streak.

As someone who has spent thousands of my hard-earned dollars over the last 30 years on Georgia football, I may not be a member of the team, but the Dawgs are my team.

This fanbase was so obnoxious during the 90’s and early years of this century. Not going to lie; I am enjoying all of this more than I should. But I did live through frickin “Good Ole Rocky Top” being belted constantly. Manning leading the band after a game in Sanford Stadium. Manning passing the ball down field late in the 4th quarter, after we loss Edwards to that damn turf up there (it’s a UT tradition) and running up points late… And having the audacity to recognizing it was wrong after the game, and then saying, “but I know they are recruiting my brother, so maybe they won’t take it too personally”..

So yes… Things like this make me smile…

Derek, I’ll concede that without looking it up. My apology for putting the two together. Normally, do not confuse things like this. Usually do not enjoy others misery, but just couldn’t believe how cocky this fan base was back then. What is it about teams with Orange in their color?

Always funny to me how quick those silly little orange flags (homes/cars) come down after a loss. Lived thru that shat for 9 straight losses in Nashville….awful fans, the worst.

The only team that I hate as bad is Notre Dame, they are both are at the bottom of the barrel for me.

For me, it’s even better. I’ve almost become like Don Draper about them: “I don’t think of you at all.”

They’re literally so irrelevant that they barely qualify as an afterthought when I’m talking about our opponents with other fans. They’re a whisker away from being in the same breath as Vandy or Kentucky when I’m talking about assumed wins at the beginning of the season.

    • This is exactly why minor league football will never be a money maker. I watched Todd Gurley because he played for Georgia. I would have never paid for a ticket to watch him play for a minor league team before he went to the NFL.

I’m a front of the jersey matters to me, but the name on the back deserves more than he gets right now (NLI).

One thing they should have taught him but now is that you have to take the good with the bad. If you want the cheering, accolades, and prestige that comes with being a big time athlete, then be prepared for the reciprocal as well.

He has a valid point. It’s easy to get drunk and watch games or fire away on the keyboard and be brutally critical of these kids and coaches. They do show up everyday and give their all. It’s a brutal, cutthroat arena and there is a winner and loser every game. Some luck involved as well. Maybe their all isn’t good enough week in and week out, but they are def trying there best. If you’ve ever been or are very competitive in high stakes things – work, sports, chasing girls, gambling, whatever, losing sucks and winning is awesome. It’s not like they want to lose. I see his point.

Imagine every time you lose your weekly fantasy football league game, your friends, neighbors, coworkers, family, and dog ride your ass, call you a loser, tell you how much you suck, insist that you go kill yourself. Ridiculous right?

Lots of tough guys on the internet these days. Tell them they suck to their faces next time you see them. Nah, you’ll try to sniff their jocks and get an autograph. (Not talking to anyone specifically, but hope you get my point). And his……

They certainly aren’t all trying their best. Some are and some aren’t, and some who aren’t probably think they are. As Texas Dawg noted above you, if you want the glory that comes from fan adulation, you have to accept the flip side.
