That J.T. Daniels guy is pretty good when the offense is allowed to run as designed and not dictated to run it into stacked boxes over and over again.

The second half of that game was a thing of beauty. I’m guessing the only adjustment Monken needed to make was to ask Kirby if he could just run his damn offense as designed.

Guess we will never know, but I have a tendency to agree.

We go from one coach that didn’t seem involved to one that seems too involved….and yet their records are almost identical.

Do it the way you want….just WIN!

Best win all season imo, “future so bright I need shades”??

I’m happy we’re winning these games, but the bitterness of losing to the ‘turds simply won’t go away. People outside the program and fanbase have told us all what are Kirby’s biggest mistakes since he decided to turtle the offense in the 2017 National Title Game. They revel in telling us what they think those mistakes are. They’re usually wrong, but sometimes they’re right.

I know for me what is solidly No. 2.

Eh, who cares. Daniels wasn’t ready. You can either believe it or not.

People who know anything about football know we are on the cusp and will continue to be on the cusp. Its only a matter of time…

And you know what ? Its fucking awesome because it’s better than 99.9% of college football programs. I’ve enjoyed every second we are on the cusp.

Is it? Is knowing the best that every team in the entire cursed if Georgia will ever be able to accomplish is to come in second (usually via a monumental collapse) to the championship organizations of the world such as the dodgers this year, the Yankees in the 90s, 28-3 against the Patriots in 2016 and all the horrible moments against the Tide. Because frankly it’s a pretty shitty feeling KNOWING none of your teams will win a championship, ESPECIALLY your alma mater. It fucking sucks.

                  THANK YOU!!!

Bobby Cox was not a managerial genius. He was a moron who wasted some of the most talented teams in baseball history in his abject refusal to manage differently in October where it’s win and go home. He starting line-up in Game 6 of the 1998 NLCS was an absolute travesty of defense replacement-level players that you knew it was over before the first pitch.

                  I’m sick of ALMOST!!!

It’s not fun. It’s a fucking gut punch, every goddamned time. Watching Snit make some gigantic Coxian mistakes the last two playoffs has been too much to bear.

Seeing Kirby continue to make the same mistakes on offense is why I don’t trust him to not make those mistakes. He keeps doing it.

Those Richt collapses against Zook’s Floriduh teams absolutely tainted his vaunted first five years. Promoting and holding on to a loser coach like Soft Willie kept the Dawgs from winning the Natty with his best ever team in 2007.

Kirby turtling the offense in the 2017 title game is why we lost. Not because of Tua.

All these gut punch losses were preventable if better decisions were made. Why must it always be OUR coaches and managers who make the terrible decisions in crunch time. Or not even crunch time. Like which QB to get reps with the ones during the bye week. And he still won’t just admit he was wrong. He won’t give Daniels credit in his post game press conferences. It’s ridiculous. Just admit you made a mistake and that’s all it would take to make so many people happy. But he won’t do it.

I can’t even get into 28-3. I can’t blame as Shanahan for being Shanahan. That’s 100% on DQ. That’s not turtling the offense with 15 minutes. Running the ball there three straight downs runs the clock down to the 2-minute warning or forces NE to use their time outs AND you actually score the three points to make it a two score game. But fucking DQ, that meathead, just stands there and does nothing!!!!

                  Sigh.

This Georgia team should be going to Atlanta and it’s not and it’s Kirby’s fault and he just won’t admit he made the mistake. Just like Bobby Cox. Just like Mark Richt. Just like DQ.

JT Daniels father said his son was not game ready until after the FU game.

We’ve had two missing pieces an OC that can run a modern high scoring offense and a QB who can operate that offense. We have that now.

He never actually said that, but many people erroneously think he did. He basically thanked Kirby for taking it slow, which any concerned parent would.

However, both Daniels and Kirby both said the knee had nothing to do with Daniels not playing earlier. So there’s that.

But cling to your misunderstanding game of telephone misremembering if you must.

I understand, but in ‘17….we were there, they (UF) were sitting on the porch with their Momma.

Thought taking his foot off the gas was a mistake too (Bama), but I believe he has learned from it.

As far as the QB situation goes this year, it was tough…..but I believe he made the right decision in playing Daniels when he did, always easy to second guess.

I truly believe that Kirby is smart enough to learn from his mistakes…..players keep on coming for a reason.

          It will happen imo.

On offense, he seems to keep making the same mistakes, though. Like in this game, that first half was garbage. Why not just come out playing the first half like we did the second half? Why the play-not-to-lose bullshit? I don’t get it. I seriously don’t understand his utter reluctance to just play to win on offense.

And I’m sick of being almost. We’ve been almost for all but 6 months of my entire life. The first 6 months.

adjustments, depth, wearing them down IDK…..but 49 points look pretty damn good to me. Should have been 52….but we had substituted at that point.

Could have very easily been 56 points or more with the starters in.

‘D played great, #99 is a difference maker.

              60 minute game, not 30.

Anyone who has complaints about this game didn’t watch the same one I did or doesn’t understand what they are seeing.

I saw some terrible first half drives undone because the offense stubbornly ran into loaded boxes on early downs.

Yes the second half was better, because the offense ran as designed, where they passed with the numbers and ran with the numbers. My question is, why don’t we ALWAYS do that? That’s all. It’s not some kind of taboo question.

Bama only ever runs their offense as designed.

Come on dude, this is a complete false equivalency and you know it.

Also, when Bama puts in their backups in the fourth quarter, they still run their offense as designed. Why? So the backup QBs and WRs get meaningful reps. When Kirby puts in the backups, it’s run-run-run.

Division one football, most all teams are competitive…. the starters that is, the first 22. Depth (teams) separates the haves from the have nots.

It’s always been that way, especially in the SEC…always will.

It ain’t “John Madden Football”. If you don’t understand all of that by now, maybe time and paying more attention will help.

                  Good luck to you….

When the team keeps running into stacked boxes and doesn’t let Daniels pull the ball to throw it (which is what Kirby said last week), that’s all Kirby.

No team from Georgia: the braves, the falcons and ESPECIALLY the dawgs will ever win a championship. Losing and failure is bred into the very fabric of every team in this state.

Well let’s see….. the Falcons have won (division championships in 1980, 1998, 2004, 2010, 2012, and 2016 and have been in two Super Bowls.

The Dawgs have won it all and so have the Braves.

But it may be easier for some to switch every year, you know….kinda like girlfriends or wives, always have the best each and every year.

Agree. He seems very switched on. After the games it is funny watching him to find someone to shake hands with. You have to think he doesn’t know a single person since being west coast guy. But he said he loves the south…..which I assume means he loves Athens. So I think he sticks around. But it’s funny as you know 90% of our team and most opposing teams know each other from HS games and camps. He walks around trying to find someone to shake hands with. But he may end up being a great teammate which is all that matters. Hopefully we can look back in a year or two and call him a DGD

As someone who came to Athens from So. Cal. (Granted it was a long time ago) I can understand why JT loves it. The first time I walked into Sanford and heard 40,000 people jump to their feet and yell dawg food when the opposing team appeared in the tunnel all I could think of was, this is so cool and I’m so glad I’m here.

As long as Pickens is on the team, the offensive game plan should include him having no less than 10 targets. Its almost guaranteed that something good will happen with at least 6 of those 10 targets.

Best part of this game for me, besides 600 yards of offense was the fact this team seemed ready and willing to go hard for the whole game. I was worried that motivation might be low but I saw motivated guys playing hard, pulling for each other, celebrating teammate plays. That makes me optimistic for the future.

  8. All of this optimism is nice, but honestly we only look like a good college offense. Meanwhile Bama is out there looking like the greatest show on turf. We are not even in the same league. I am happy we don’t have to play them again this year. It would hurt recruiting to get boat raced on national TV. We need an elite RB, and another elite WR, or two.

      I agree.

Winning against hapless SEC Least opponents is fun, but we aren’t in Bama’s league. They would woodshed us for certain.

The main problem is our defensive backs can’t run with fast receivers or play the ball in the air.

I think we have enough skill players for one year if Daniels’ performance is just a product of competition.

But the defensive secondary is a liability we lose 2, 32 and 99 in the off season. We will be soft up the middle.

Hard to see a path to success unless Daniels puts up a Burrow-type season.

    • Do you think we would like a bit better than good if JT had been ready or Newman hadn’t checked out in August? I do.

Jones played multiple games last year with his offense after Tua’s injury and had the entire offseason to work with his guys. Don’t forget we were leading Bama in the 3rd quarter with SBIV at QB.

I’m not saying we’re going to win it all next year, but Daniels is every bit of the player that either of the SEC Heisman candidates is and likely has a higher upside than both of them.

The great thing about JT to me is – that magic intangible – he’s a winner!

Carries himself with a confidence without being cocky. If he stays for next year, the future does indeed look bright.
