It’s that time of year, and I’ve gotten an email or two about posting something to give everyone a chance to add to the list here. So let’s do it!
I’ll kick this year’s post off with three suggestions:
- A reader recommendation (thanks, Randy) are these custom made cornhole boards, sure to be a hit at your next tailgate. They don’t have NCAA logos available, but they can be custom designed, so go wild.
- “Your mancave, office or dorm is “between the hedges” with our replica Sanford Stadium.” Say no more. (h/t)
- Some of you already have it, but Seth Emerson’s Attack the Day would make an obviously splendid holiday gift for that certain Dawg in your life.
All righty then. Throw out your suggestions in the comments. I’ll amend the Gift Guide accordingly.
Jittery Joe’s Attack the Day coffee: https://jitteryjoes.com/collections/coffee
I’m not a coffee snob, so I don’t know it’s any good or not, but the tin itself is pretty cool.

It is good (and I’m not a coffee snob either). Yes, the tin is sharp-looking.

The coffee is pretty dang good if you like dark roasted coffee.
However, as I and some others prefer medium roasts, I also heartily recommend the proprietary blend Jittery Joe’s makes for Mama’s Boy, which is my favorite of all their non-single origin coffees:

And this can is also beautiful, as well!

JJs is excellent coffee. I like the “Wake & Bake” because the name evokes so many fond memories. 🙂

If they ever come up with a version of Sanford Stadium that has a “Light Up Sanford” feature, I will buy it no questions asked.

I got worn down by these guys ads on Instagram a few months ago and bought a t-shirt 3 pack. Have ordered two more times since including a very comfortable hoodie. Anyway, simple, really comfortable, good quality, and not ridiculously expensive. https://trueclassictees.com/ And, no, I have no affiliation to them, just a customer.

“leave room in the stomach area for all us dad bods”.
Dammitman, I resemble that remark.

I noticed a conspicuous lack of dad-bod models on the page, too. Come on, man. If you are going to claim it is designed for dad-bods, show us.

Wright Thompson’s new book – Pappyland:A STORY OF FAMILY, FINE BOURBON, AND THE THINGS THAT LAST – for the bourbon fan in your life. Wright spent a TON of time with Julian van Winkle, learning about the history of the distillery, and the family, and how they operate.

There’s a story around here that there was a time when PVW wasn’t as renowned and one of the family members just gave it away as Christmas gifts to people here. That was before my time, so I never got any, but I don’t think my palette is sophisticated enough to appreciate it anyway.

Per this site a couple years ago I’ve been rockn those on all my vehicles. I don’t have anything else that identifies my loyalties and those are very subtle. Have an extra set in each console in anticipation of them being snaked.
Wife got new tires a few months ago from a reputable dealer in Athens. Immediately noticed the caps were standard black. Owner got them back most rikki tik.
“Didn’t know I needed them and have to have them.”

For the US military history buff on your list, I recommend Rick Atkinson’s Pulitzer-winning Revolution Trilogy–https://revolutiontrilogy.com–or his Liberation Trilogy–http://liberationtrilogy.com.
For the fan of classic American crime fiction, any of Library of America’s Elmore Leonard books–https://www.loa.org/books/writer/206-elmore-leonard.
For the fan of classic sci-fi/fantasy: the Penguin Galaxy editions of “Dune,” “Neuromancer,” “The Left Hand of Darkness,” “Stranger in a Strange Land,” “2001: A Space Odyssey,” and my favorite, “The Once and Future King.”

I recently finished the first Atkinson book and can definitely recommend the Trilogy! He’s also got a book on the Revolutionary War that I’d love to read.

Those commercials are funny as hell. The look on the lady’s face when he’s throwing the pillows off is priceless.

Consider “The War Below,” by James Scott. Great story of three subs in the Pacific during WW2. Also: Admiral James Stavridis’ “Sea Power” (not exclusively about subs) and Iain Ballantyne’s “Deadly Deep.”
Good submarine genre fiction: “Run Silent, Run Deep” and “The Hunt for Red October.”
Also consider C.S. Forester’s “Good Shepherd,” about an American/English/Canadian convoy of merchant ships being hunted by Nazi subs. Recently made into a movie of the same name, starring Tom Hanks. The book is far better than the movie. Forester wrote the great Horatio Hornblower books.
Great maritime literary fiction: “In Hazard,” by Richard Hughes, and Melville’s “Omoo,” “Typee,” and of course “Moby-Dick.”

I recently started wearing the new long sleeve performance fishing shirts that Columbia and Huk make. They keep the sun off and can be worn on hot or cool days. They are also comfy as hell. Columbia makes UGA versions and I have seen them in red and white. Great for the lake, beach, or tailgate. https://www.columbia.com/p/mens-collegiate-pfg-terminal-tackle-long-sleeve-shirt—georgia-1892211_UGA.html?dwvar_1892211__UGA_color=690&dwvar_1892211__UGA_size=S&ef_id=Cj0KCQiA2uH-BRCCARIsAEeef3kLz-rtakPN8f-EQZ4IzSmR5T4qeB7rPczEOlc7EZrvsEi2xrFFhfEaAlGzEALw_wcB:G:s&mid=paidsearch&eid=Google+PLA+US&s_kwcid=AL!3937!3!295605960843!!!g!865021140449!&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2uH-BRCCARIsAEeef3kLz-rtakPN8f-EQZ4IzSmR5T4qeB7rPczEOlc7EZrvsEi2xrFFhfEaAlGzEALw_wcB

I have been looking for UGA Dart flights for at least six months with no luck. I can’t even find full darts that I could take the fights off (except as part of a board combo). Does anyone know of anywhere that might these?

My wife bought 4 sets of darts of amazon a few years back. Really well weighted. Don’t know where to find the custom flights you are looking for.

I know i am late to the party here but if anyone is a beef jerky nut, Mingua. My sister went to the University of the South up there in the mountains. Married a good dude from LEX, and they have a family there now. He is a “four roses” guy, which isnt my favorite, but, this Mingua jerky is the bomb. Check it out. She (my sis) sends it to me because its only available locally or online. The original and the Cajun are both out of this world we live in.
