Did somebody get the number of that truck?

I don’t know if you saw this play during the SECCG, but, man.  You won’t see a better tackle all year.

A wide receiver who hits like a safety.  Hell, there are plenty of safeties who don’t hit like that.

His fourth cousin felt that one…
The last view sure looks like targeting. He did get the helmet to helmet hit.
    Reviewers said it was clean.
I went from “ah, crap” to “Yeah!”, in a couple of seconds.

Brings back memories of a post of yours after the 2008 loss to Tech:
Reshad Jones, take notes. If you’re going to tackle with a shoulder bump then tackle with a shoulder bump!

  3. Lewis Cine says hello to Kyle Pitts! The Metchie hit is why I hate the blindside block rule. It was the exact same thing, except it was a defensive player doing it to an offensive player. Either call it both ways or do away with it.

I’ll tell you another one that falls in the defense, no, offense, yes, category: illegal hands to the face.

It was in a pro game this weekend but the announcers kept raving over an attempted stiff arm by a running back when he was, in essence, punching the guy on D in the facemask repeatedly. Had a guy on D done that, hands to the face no doubt or questions asked.

      • Yeah. As long as there is no grabbing of the facemask, eye gouging etc, hands to the face shouldn’t be a thing, imo. I get protecting players but some of this goes too far.

I hate the blindside block rule. If you don’t want to get leveled keep your head on a swivel.

My first though when I saw it was if it was a UGA defender it would be targeting. It was an awesome clean hit.

Other than the final score, that was my favorite part of the game.

I should have said almost a decleating hit in honor of throw a shoe U.

If I’m going to be subjected to hearing Eli Gold’s nasaly ass voice, give me a heads up before hitting that play button. Worst play by play announcer there is.

Yep, you certainly don’t see that nowadays. Hines Ward is probably the only one that I can think of right now…he seemed to love to dish it out.

Not a WR hitting a safety, but when I think of UF player getting laid out/leveled…I will forever think of this one:

The penalty was worth it IMO.

Reminded me of pugil in basic – drill sergeant yelling – “knock his dick into his watch pocket” damn I loved that part of basic.

Oh man, the Pugil drill in the sandbox is what cost me a sure fire permanent duty station with the Army band in D.C. and I would be retired Army right now, IF, I didnt rip my ACL and MCL in that damn sand pit on pugil drill. The kid I went up against cost us a barracks toss because he raided the vending machine down stairs (FT. Knox Basic ‘95). I lunged at him and hyper extended my left knee. I was married, thought I landed a career job that we could raise a family on as a permanent duty station at Ft. Meade with the Army Field Band. Went into Basic as a E4, would have graduated as an E6, where my active duty would have started. Should have retired as high as E9 but possible to go higher. The top two bands are very protected and for marketing purposes show unusually high rank. Probably would have retired as a MSG at minimum as a trumpet player.

          Sorry, you triggered me.

Have to admit, thank you posting this. That was worth it. Sorry, but, not. My FL meter is pretty sensitive on the wrong side of “ok”.

How many times in a career does a receiver get the opportunity to lay the wood like that? Can you imagine the excitement/joy/arousal Metchie must have felt as that play unfolded and he realized what was about to happen?

Florida guy was running full speed. Had no idea he was being walked down and sized up. Fantastic tackle for anyone, let alone a wideout!
