Paper Tigers

I gotta say while Dabo getting his comeuppance was my favorite thing watching last night’s Sugar Bowl…

… my second favorite was pondering the Venn diagram of people complaining that Ohio State shouldn’t be allowed in the CFP because of its shortened schedule with the people insisting that an expanded playoff wouldn’t water down the regular season.

College football is the best.

  1. No doubt they are one of the 4 best teams. Also no doubt that their resume this year should have disqualified them. The fact that their conference changed their championship game eligibility rules to get anOSU in should have also disqualified them in the committee’s eyes.

Indiana is covering up the B1G logo on their jerseys for their bowl game in response to how the conference treated them in both the championship game eligibility and bowl game selection.

I hope Alabama beats the daylights out of them.

Agreed some how this argument of not belonging is somehow reversed by anOSU winning. They have had close games in the past with Clemson but now with fewer games that would result in injury and fatigue results in a season where they beat a team that played 9.. 10.. games? Who was without their?

It doesn’t change the argument, anOSU didn’t play a full season and thus doesn’t deserve the rewards of playing a full season.

The only argument that anOSU/Clemson makes for playoff expansion is, it proves some teams get preferred treatment over other teams and rules changed to help them.

    Senator,
Loved your last sentence. College football is the best.

You can always find something to support your opinion and a fool to argue with thanks to the internet.

Yea Dabo’s chickens came home to roost last night. 😂

  3. Dabo is an insufferable douche who plays the victim nonstop. Watching him get curbstomped was delightful.

You could see it in his eyes at the halftime interview. The gig was up and he zero answers. Beauty to watch. His team looked slow on. It’s sides of the ball. If we were not in that sorry ACC then he would be toast.

Ironic, ain’t it……he complains about Ohio State’s 6 games and most complain about his ACC schedule.

He go what he deserved…..thinks Finebaum got it right, Dabo is like that kid in the back of the room in grade school that just can’t keep his mouth shut…or something to that effect.

Ohio State should not have been in since their players played less games. Dabo was right about that. Everyone else had more wear and tear on their bodies.

Clemson didn’t have a lot of wear and tear on their bodies. With their schedule they rest their starters in the second half of every game.

People need to get over this, including you Senator. Ohio St can be a really good team and I can still think 6 games doesn’t qualify them for CFP.

Admittedly, I was shocked at how good anOSU was. I really did think they would get clobbered.
If I were a betting man, I would have lost a lot of money yesterday.
I thought the Dawgs would cover. I thought ‘Bama would win by 30. I thought Clemson would win by 14 or more. Sheesh.
I also think that, regardless of how good they actually are, anOSU wouldn’t have gotten in if Kirk Herbstreit had gone to school at Cincinnati. It was a meteor game for me and so will the championship game. Fields had, perhaps, the best game that any college QB has ever had as an underdog in a big game. The way he played after he took the hit to his kidneys was admirable and proved his toughness. Just a great game for him that probably made him a lot of moola.
What a crazy year it’s been.
I see Alabama and Clemson dropping off a little and Oklahoma moving on up for next season. Dawgs? Who knows. The players are certainly on the roster.

OSU has lots of talent and it was laser focused on beating Clemson for the past year. If they can keep that intensity against Bama, we will have an 8-0 national champion.

  8. When was the last time you watched a bowl game in which Ohio State had the more likable coach? Great job, Dabo.

Between Dan Mullen, Kyle Trask, and Dabo, this has been a better than average post season for Schadenfreude. I’m smiling.

Bama’s beat up too EE…all else being equal, OSU having fewer games is very important in my mind. Not saying Clemson would have won with equal games, but ….well, you know.

        • I totally agree. Bama is going to have their hands full. I said when this whole thing started, that if a B1G or Pac 12 team won the ESPN Invitational, I would always have an asterisk beside the 2020 winner. If Bama wins it with a 13-0 record, there’s no asterisk beside it to me.

I did not pay much attention to injury stats after the game…Fields got banged up a bit, but anyone else for OSU?
