The serpent that eats its own tail

It all comes ’round again:

Now, do I think this could happen?  Honestly, and to my great disappointment, no, I don’t think Danny White is that stupid.

But in a world where the football gods have been capricious, to say the least, and Clay Travis exists, I can’t say the chances are zero.  You know what they say about hope being the best of things…

Not so sure UT is better job than ole miss ? Other than you don’t have to play LSU, Aub, AM every year… but you still have UGA, uf, Bama

Saying the Kiffin Kancer has no shame or embarrassment doesn’t do it justice. Words fail.

Was just wondering if it’s really true that he’s whoring himself out, yet again, to another job…that job. Because this is nuts. Is he nuts?

Why would he want to go to UT now? He will have the 2nd worst roster in the SEC, he will have the 2nd worst recruiting class coming in and 2022 recruiting devastated by the threat of sanctions or sanctions themselves, with having to play a quarter of his schedule against Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
How would going to UT now help his career?

That boy’s ambition is matched only by his ego.

  7. This crap reads like some Qanon message that takes facts and oddly tries to connect them in the most fabulously stupid of ways <<<Pay attention…there are ten letters in the name Lane Kiffin…TEN…I see TEN…TEN I SEE. TENNESSEE. It’s happening, Vols fans. The Saban caliphate is crumbling>>>. Now cue active drooling from the corner of your mouth and shitting your pants.

I also doubt highly that any prominent booster that shelled out cash for Kiffin 1.0 would be wanting to do it again for Kiffikins 2.0, so why would Lane reach out to a booster rather than directly contacting Danny White? If there is one thing that can be said about Lane, he ain’t coy.

Jimmy Sexton is his agent. Cue the raise and contract extension at Ole Miss in 3, 2, 1……

Lol. Lane texts a booster, the booster immediately leaks it. Which, um, sort of complicates things on for Lane on the Ole Miss end.

Which suggests this is the booster’s way of saying, “F*** you., Lane.”?

Hmmmm….Might be an interesting morning at O’ MS. I’m sure they’re flattered by Lane’s loyalty. Can you imagine how much this pisses them off?

I believe Lane Kiffin wants back in Hillbillyville as much as I believe in Dan Patrick’s CFB “source” that keeps trying to make, “Georgia got sloppy,” happen.

    So… not at all.

I said it yesterday and while I was wrong that they wouldn’t have a quick AD selection, I still can’t believe any coach worth a damn would want to step into that situation with all the unknowns. Roster issues, talent issues, and the potential for sanctions. I guess that it is possible that UT self-imposes sanctions such as a year or two bowl ban and reduction of scholarships by a few and the NCAA goes with it, but the fact that the Chancellor said that the number and seriousness of the violations was appalling might very well mean that the NCAA adds more sanctions.

His on field performance at UT was pretty good.

If they just focused on that and ignored literally everything else it makes sense.

They were a blocked fg away from beating alabama.

If you’re lane you know getting UT to Atlanta is easier than Ole Miss. Hell, Fulmer did it like 5 times or something. Ole Miss is still waiting on its first trip.

What does upcoming 2023 super recruit QB Arch Manning think?

There is some considerable familiarity between the two:

White was associate athletics director for development at California State-Fresno from 2007-09, where Kiffin played collegiately as a quarterback.

White’s brother, Brian White, is the vice president and director of athletics at Florida Atlantic, where Kiffin served as head coach.

  18. Kiffy’s eye is on Bama. Saban keeps losing his top coordinators so internal succession is doubtful. I don’t for a moment believe he’s serious about UT, but having his name thrown out, if even by him, for any major opening in the SEC is just smart publicity…and trolling. But what will his recruits think?

He’s got to win big somewhere big to get that job especially where Saban scuttled him right before a natty game that they went on to lose.

I’d place better odds on Lane being named next UT coach than next Bama coach as things stand today. If he goes to UT (or stays at OM) and beats alabama? I know I know… He’d go to the top of the list. Unless he talked shit while he did it.

I don’t think that Kiffy is really interested in vowels redux. He would be facing the same no win situation that he had at USC with the upcoming NCAA sanctions and depleted talent pool. And the only reason that he took USC is that it was his dream job. USC didn’t work out well so I think that Kiffy looks at Knoxville and says been there, done that.

No tinge of “what could’ve been” for Kiffin if he doesn’t bolt for USC?

I wouldn’t disagree that it would be in-character for him, but damn have times changed since 2009. UT was definitely better when he came in with a pretty good roster (bolstered by the top 5 2007 class with the likes of Eric Berry) when they parted ways with Phat Phil after the 2008 season. And one other thing to note about how times have changed is that Kiffin was hired at the end of November of 2008 so had plenty of time to recruit with no early signing period. If he left right now for UT he’d have little chance to turn their current class into a top 10 class.

A move to UT from Ole Miss right now would speak volumes about the coaching ego / mindset that is crazy to most everyone else. I don’t think UT has a better chance at trophies than Ole Miss for the foreseeable future. I don’t think UT has a chance for better recruiting for a while either. Oxford is a cooler place to live IMO and the fanbase will love him at 7-5 and scoring a lot of points while acting like the Californicated version of the stereotypical pompous Ole Miss asshat. Why go stick your _____ in crazy, when crazy is not even as good looking ?
