After hiring Josh Heupel, Danny White may not be the AD Vol fans want, but is he the AD they need?  Or deserve?  Discuss.

“Good morning coach, this is Danny White, AD at the University of Tennessee. How are you today?”

Both White and Heupel are the dogs who finally caught the car. I fully expect them to crash and burn now that they’re both in the big leagues, but at least both will get paid very well for it.

White landed them a coach without any drama. That’s a big upgrade.

Is Huepel going to succeed? He’s their best available choice. Saban ain’t taking the job.

Fulmer was the AD they deserve. And the results are glorious.

So he vetted all the other options, then suddenly remembered his number one candidate? Hilarious. Vols gonna Vol.

Like I said the day he was hired:

The most needlessly arrogant AD and the most needlessly arrogant fanbase, together at last.

It’s gonna be so much fun!

As much as he makes, can’t he afford an assistant for straight stories?

I’ve read that His contract is minimal by Sec standards. I don’t believe he was their first choice

Honestly… This felt incredibly arrogant and incredibly lazy, for a guy that is being paid $1.8MM a year for 5 years. And why the rush? The program is already devastated. It’s a complete rebuild. Take your time and really think through all options and wait for the NFL hiring and firing to finish up, because that creates more options.

I’m a lot less concerned about White being the AD now than I was when they first hired him.

Why would UCF be mad at White when he paid $6,000,000 to take a coach of their hands who has gotten progressively worse yearly? Reading the UCF message boards, they went from “no way UT comes after Heupel…makes no sense,” to “are they serious?!” to finally, “well guys, I can’t believe someone was dumb enough to pay us to take him off our hands.”

  12. Weird how he called Tennessee fans out on social media yesterday and turns around and says this today. Now, I’m questioning everything about this whole circus.

Had to get a HC before signing day next week. 10rc fans are already frothing at the mouth to see how many studs they land. Will they get ten 5-stars or only nine? Stay tuned…

Think I read somewhere that Jimmy Sexton clients were avoided by the Vols in this “coach search”.

Considering how radioactive this job is (they’re either about to get hammered with violations, or they are doing their best to avoid a payout that Pruitt is owed), hiring a very good offensive coach is a solid job.

I don’t think Heupel is going to save their program, but their chances of recruiting and/or developing a good QB probably just went up…and that might just be the single most important on-the-field thing.

If you take into account the hole and likely shit sandwich that Roscoe and Boss Hogg left, then adding a trusted, devil you know, like Heupel was likely a very smart move by White.
