Urnge Double Entendre

So, in stumbling across this piece mentioning that UT gave one of its few four-star signees from the ’21 class permission to jump ship, I discovered this ambiguous quote from Heupel that seems quite timely, given the Vols welcoming Willie Martinez back into the fold:

“It’s a great group of men who will do a tremendous job of instilling confidence, energy and passion,” Heupel said. “We’re going to play with tempo. We’re going to play in space. We’re going to apply pressure to the defense consistently…”

Notice he doesn’t say which defense.

Pruitt’s D finished eighth in the conference in defensive yards per play last season.  What’s your prediction for where the Vols finish in that regard in 2021?

He seems to be an honest fellow. Expect there to be more space between the ball carriers and his defense. Applying a great deal more pressure on himself. That Vandy game will be filled with drama to claim the cellar in the East.
Schadenfreude cuts deep and wonderful today. Hope the next serving contains GT news.

I really missed the Vandy and tech games in 2020. Great opportunity for Daniels to air it out live, perfect timing with his receivers and pad all their stats. Not to mention more preparation for that slack showing in the bowl game.

    Toss-up between 13th & 14th.

  4. General Neyland will be spinning in his grave by the time the season is over. That’s fine by me.

Should that be the approach the big urnge hc is taking towards checkers…o.k., 3 dimensional chess, it ain’t gonna work….

They should fall into the above average column in the ACC.

It is looking more and more like a calculated cash grab by all the coaches in Knoxville. There is no way that this cast of retreads and a decimated roster can go anywhere but to Vandy in the 90s levels the next few years.

Just takes 5 years to get vested in the state retirement program. Along with no income tax and a small property tax rate and living in TN is semi-attractive. Except for the orange. There is also rarely a long wait at the dentist. I live in TN so it’s very easy for me to throw stones.

  8. They will finish as national champions, at least in UCF terms.

I think UT, SC, and Vandy will fight it out for the cellar (that is if UT has any players and SC has any coaching staff left).

Based upon my feeble memory of his defensive performance at Georgia, I would advise all teams playing Tennessee to THROW DEEP and THROW OFTEN!

“I cannot stress this point to you enough! Do not, I repeat, DO NOT turn and look for the ball under any circumstances!! Interceptions and pass breakups are NOT your friend!!!”

If your beat you better not turn around, just wave your arms and stream. You might just distract the wide open receiver or get hit in the back of your head by the ball.
There is no face guarding PI in college ball.
