Intro calls at Tennessee today with Rodney Garner, Mike Ekeler and Willie Martinez. #uga pic.twitter.com/XlZW7fyxva

Indeed.
New #Vols OLBs/STs coach Mike Ekeler would not confirm or deny that he got in a tussle with Jeremy Pruitt when they both coached at Georgia. Only thing he’d say about his time in Athens in what everyone knows, that Mark Richt is a good dude.

Good times.
Hated to lose Ekeler, loved his passion/intensity.

One day, someone is going to spill the beans on that 2015 clusterfuck.

This comment needs more than a simple “Like” option. I am hoping for a book on this 2015 season, but I would settle for an interview at this point.

Everyone has heard some stuff, but it is almost become urban leg and at this point. Who really knows?
At the very least, it is remarkable the damage Pruitt was able to unfurl in less than 2 year. Even more remarkable is that Tennessee hiring him, with literally everyone associated with UGA or FSU telling them exactly how it was going to end.

AU, UTenn, FU, all with re-retreads from decade ago UGA. Modernized programs Good luck with that.

Why do you think McGarity and UGA neglected to spend money on resources for Richt at the rate spent for Smart?

Probably because Richt asked for it and Smart most likely demanded it.

And McGarity knew his job security depended upon Smart achieving at a higher level than Richt.

Yep, Bluto has hit on this a lot in the past. McGarity didn’t hire Richt. But his name was on the Smart hire. Though Texas Dawg is correct too, Smart (or Sexton) did a good job of setting what the expectations would be for him to accept the job. Richt never really had that leverage, or at least not the personality to use that leverage the way an experienced agent would (if I recall correctly, Richt didn’t use an agent).

To pile on, he also looked like a jackleg with the Richt handling. Like a parent that loses it so now its ice cream and pizza for the kids.

What got me was that McJackleg, during his overlong tenure at UGA, never figured out that ‘soulless bureaucrat’ wasn’t a good look. Shit, we all knew he was one, but he seemed intent on proving it every time he spoke to the media. The way he handled the Richt firing was Soulless Bureaucrat 101. That press conference, man. Jesus.

McGarity was not committed to winning and lacked leadership quality.
