As a follow up to yesterday’s post about the quality of the SEC East going into this season, it’s worth noting, as macondawg does here, that Georgia is the only team in the division the returns both of its coordinators. (That factoid probably deserves as asterisk, as Florida’s OC doesn’t call plays. Then, again, Florida is the only team in the division that returns Todd Grantham as its defensive coordinator. But I digress.)
If continuity is your big thing — and a lack of it sure bit Georgia in the butt last season, offensively speaking — then this, too, seems noteworthy: Georgia and Missouri are the only two teams in the East to return their starting quarterback and head coach from 2020. That makes for an awful lot of new faces trying to make their way around America’s Toughest Conference first time around.
Sure, somebody out of that entire bunch could unexpectedly catch fire. I’d probably argue that’s more likely than not, considering how many changes we’re looking at in the division. But enough for a team to mount a serious challenge to Georgia in 2021? Outside of the Gators, I just don’t see it.
Hell, Jeff Dantzler would tell you it’s a throwaway year for half of the Dawgs’ opponents in the division. One thing Kirby’s got to prepare for is to make sure his team doesn’t fall asleep at the switch against the likes of South Carolina, Tennessee or Vanderbilt. Admittedly, there are worse things to worry about, but still…
Get The Picture 
No excuses. This team should be in Atlanta barring a rash of injuries like 2013 (of course, we go to Kneeland in a year like this). Whether we will be 12-0 or 11-1 when we get there is the only question.

As always, the college football playoffs are a weekly game, UGA’s biggest challenge will be themselves (staff/athletes)….not to mention covid 19, UGA fan base, bm, warm beer, sec referees, the bammers amongst a few extraterrestrial topics….

I’ll reiterate what I said before. I’m more worried about UGA than I am about the other SEC opponents. If we bring our A game nobody in the East worries me. If we fiddly fart around a couple of them could be a problem.

If the SEC moved Bama into the East and Vandy into the West, immediately the East would become the most difficult division in all of college football. It’s really only one team that makes the difference peeps.

Yeah, CKS’ job one is to get our guys to stay focused and push themselves to their potential. Doesn’t matter who the opponent is, play to the standard.

sec is now on a more even playing field since spread & downfield passing & skill play is now taking over all of college fb and the defensive strength & running is no longer the advantage it used to be. the west is now the pac 12 & the east just cycled out all the DCs that were HCs except Stoops & Kirby. The real season begins with the CFP. And until Conferences get rid of divisions, we will be stuck with lopsided confirm champ games and the top heavy squads like Oklahoma, Clemson will keep skating by.

Beware Arkansas out of the west. It’s the week before Auburn and Sam Pittman has some experienced players returning. Hey, I’m a Georgia fan. Always be Munsoning.

If you take last year as an example, then I’d say that Pittman can coach – and get a team ready. Keep an eye on Arky.

Whether we beat Clemson or not, sure as s—t hope we do, we will absolutely run the table and once again play Alabama. If we beat Clemson and lose to Bama. We’re in. If we lose to Clemson and Bama, we’re out. It’s that and only that. I certainly plan to enjoy the ride this year, that for sure.

We can not get in by beating Clemson but losing the SECCG unless Clemson is a 2 loss ACC Champ and either OU, OSU, or USC have 2 loses along with Notre Dame. Possible, but unlikely.

If the Bama game is close and we lose, and we look dominant all season, the head to head with Clemson will weigh heavy. Notre Dame will not be a factor this year. I still see Oklahoma OSU Bama and the Dawgs. But time will tell.

The east has been a revolving door since Richt came here, though, I guess you could say that for all of the SEC, save for the programs actually competing for division and conference titles.
