I don’t know if Jesus ever fumbled a snap.

Bobo has a lot of experience in teaching QBs how to play under center as far back at least as Mason. If I were an Auburn fan I may feel a little anxious about the team spending a lot of time on this aspect of Nix’s play. Everyone is almost all shotgun all the time so I don’t know what benefit teaching Nix how to line up in the I-Formation is going to bring the 2021 Auburn team. I don’t foresee them being a strong running team nor do I think that Nix having less time to decide where to go with the ball is a good thing.

Agree. Does it mean they’re changing playbooks from spread (Gus’s system) to I-formation (CMB’s system)? Or are they doubling the size of the playbook and doing both? Nix runs hot and cold already. Not sure I’d introduce the I-formation unless I was absolutely certain he could master it quickly.

But I’m not surprised CMB is back to making every QB a statuesque drop back passer, no matter the QBs skillset. I assume there will be play-action fakes to the RB, even on 3rd and a mile.

If Bigsby is healthy, they will have a strong running game.

I agree I just don’t believe that with Auburn’s bad o line and lack of playmakers outside Bixby and Nix that they will run it successfully out of traditional Bobo sets. Bobo did a lot with some pore lines at Georgia but the 09 to 11 years where the line was not great and the RBs were not Knowhson, Gurley or Chubb were not efficient at running the ball. I am all for him turning Nix into Joe Cox. All for it.

        • Bobo’s best years were with Todd Gurley and I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

      • Still sad Kirby chased star power instead of the Georgia guy that liked Georgia that was a lowly like #2 behind crazy kid, also named “tank”. That was a big weakness showing of kirby

Agent Bobo managed to get USCjr’s PPG well under 21 with his under-center approach. Let’s hope he does the same at Barn.

Spring practice prepping under center for a season full of 4th down & short plays sounds about right.
