Trolling, trolling, trolling…

I get a daily email from the folks at Saturday Down South.  Here’s part of today’s offering:

Georgia’s DB situation is getting interesting

A lot has been made about Georgia’s lack of depth in the secondary this spring. Coach Kirby Smart recently mentioned Chris Smith and Lewis Cine as leaders in the secondary, but there’s not much depth behind those guys.

How dire is the situation in the defensive backfield? Well, Smart recently revealed that LB Adam Anderson and RB Lovasea Carroll were getting some work at cornerback. With a lack of depth like that, it’s no wonder Smart also said the Georgia quarterbacks are “light years ahead” of where they were last year. Considering a linebacker and a running back are lining up at cornerback, that’s no surprise.

You know, between an inexperienced group at cornerback and a new position coach, there are enough real facts to find the secondary’s situation interesting without having to invent things.  But that wouldn’t be any fun, would it?

Gonna be hard to not improve from over a year ago…..going out on a limb and saying we do.

QB pressure solves all kind of coverage problems. Kirby is on the mother I expect nothing less from him. The game has changed and I`m hopeful this year we see that from the good guys on the field.

Absolutely….and maybe a change in the new defensive back coach. He looks to be an upgrade IMO.

The 2 years before our last coach arrived, we finished #8 and #12 nationally. The last two years were #31 and #88.

Not a good trend, especially with the talent that was there.

I hope you’re right about it being primarily the coaching of our former DB assistant. The decline also coincides with Lanning replacing Tucker.

I’m still not convinced the situation at DB is dire. We have talent. I consider Smith a returning starter at safety, since he took over for LaCounte about mid season. The coaching could stand improvement. If Kirby would build up bigger leads, we’d have more backups with game experience.

The only thing that really counts to me, is the points given up…..we’ve been strong there since Kirby has been HC.

Don’t see a drop off from Tucker to Lanning.

Hopefully, we will see less busted coverages this year. There weren’t many, but we had some. Communication could get better IMO.

But honestly, not worried at all about the ‘D…..for now anyway.

Really not worried about anything……they just need to go out and prove it, prove they belong.

We’re due…..hope it is this year.
