    And to think…we went 1-2 against that guy. After what happened in the 90s, the early 2000’s confirmed my belief that we were cursed against the gators. And the last few years are why I’ll always love Kirby.

      Including the debacle in 2002 preventing a perfect season. While we weren’t ranked ahead of Miami or Ohio State in the two BCS polls released before Jax, even with one loss we were third in the last two polls released. So that lousy game against the Fighting Zookers prevented a chance at a natty. No guarantee that we would have had enough to get past an undefeated tOSU or UM (our best win was against #10 UT at the time we played them, no other wins against top 20 teams the rest of the season until the Sugar Bowl), but it would have been interesting.

        Not true – we were #5 with anOSU at #6 in the first BCS standings and were #4 with anOSU at #5. If we had beaten Florida, we would have likely stayed ahead of Ohio State in the BCS standings throughout especially with a 13th game (the B1G didn’t have a championship game at the time).

      Curses had nothing to do with it. FU had a bye week before the cocktail party—Georgia didn’t. It’s as simple as that. After Georgia got a bye week too the series evened up then flipped back in Georgia’s favor. Look it up. It’s pretty obvious.
