It would be Karma if Pickens gets cleared to play against tech and hangs 4 touchdown catches on those snot-dripping assholes.

Yep. The water bottle was such a silly non-event. Can’t believe people get upset by it.

Pickens seems to be one of those guys that loves playing football, like Knowshon. Can’t remember being more frustrated with the football gods about an injury.

          • And he supports his team, in his own ways, but still! He’s definitely on the secret squad that sneaks into kneeland and paints a big G on the field. The thing about the tech fight is that DB was all up his butt all game and no flags bc no balls thrown his way. And the tech guy was fighting too, Pickins just ended it.

He definitely should get cleared by the Yech game even if there is no intention to play him. The ACL should have no effect on his right hook anyway.

Lovely, Clemson has 5 different 6’3” 200 lb freaks at WR. And we lost our only one.

Gotta feeling we may see more of the TE from California now….probably move him wide, split him out.

He’s not a Pickens, but he has good size & speed….good athlete.

But to me, if I had to choose one…height or speed. I would take speed every time, too many examples.

Pretty sure we will be okay, with or without Pickens.

Love to see him step up, we have plenty of speed on the roster. We will still stretch the field.

Tough to lose Pickens, but I don’t believe it is as bad as some think.

            Liked by 1 person

            • its not as bad, we still have a stellar RB room, cook can go in the slot, and I think pickens will be back for some games, hes not passing on the SEECG if he can play is up to speed. After the swelling and pain of hell for my ACL – about 2 weeks, and I am old and got the sugars, I was able to get into PT and rapidly improved.

We will definitely be ok without Pickens, and I’m not foreclosing the chance he gets back before a playoff game. I just think it’s a stretch to say today that we’ve got a good shot of beating Bama without a sure-fire 1st round draft pick catching any pass within 7 feet of him.

My point is that Clemson’s guys are tall AND fast AND have great hands. 5 of them. And our DBs have no experience. Game 1 just got a lot harder to win, IMO.

Bama….would agree with you a year ago. But we’re not playing last years team. They lost a WHOLE lot of talent on ‘O.

I like our chances if we match up.

Clemson…..that is going to be a slobber-knocker. Thinks they have some scary receivers too.

But, I like our chances in that game too. It could go either way. Guessing they will be favored by 3, but it is a “pick’em” to me…..overall, evenly matched.

High school coach gets fired for players using the words Auschwitz, rabbi, and dreidel as audibles? Finally, a cancel event I can call my own.
My reaction: puuuhh lleease! Those words are not anti-semitic, except to people who want to have a club to use on somebody. The people who pissed and moaned to get the coach fired are much worse than he is. Spend your whole life looking for reasons to be offended, you’ll usually find them. I’ve suffered plenty of unfair offenses and insults during this life. It’s tough shit.

(There’s also a hint that there was other choice language involved.) So, yeah, I don’t have a problem with him being fired, if not for being a bigot, for being that stupid.

I lost family in the Holocaust, so I freely admit I may be more sensitive about this than you or others.

“Holocaust survivor Izzy Arbeiter, who said he saw children put to death in the gas chambers in Auschwitz, said he’s “not afraid or embarrassed” to show the Duxbury players the tattoo the Nazis burned into his skin in the concentration camp.

“The public has to know what other people do,” Arbeiter, 96, said Wednesday. “I wish I was younger, I’d go speak to them.

“I made a promise to my father when he was taken to the gas chamber,” he added. “I promised to talk about it.”

Arbeiter lost his father, mother and brother in the Holocaust. His wife, Anna, also survived Auschwitz.

“We need to let the world know what happened in the heart of Europe, he said so people today don’t treat it as just a page in a history book.”

                  Boston Herald…

Its quite possible the kids had no idea, not that that excuses anything, but dreidel and rabbi?? I guess intent is the key.

Regardless of whether you think the coach is antisemitic or not, he unquestionably did something really stupid that anyone with a half-functioning brain should know would be extremely offensive to a lot of people. And he did it as part of his official job duties. Of course he can and should be fired for that. Cancel culture, this is not.

Granted, definitely, but in this case I’m hard-pressed to respond any other way. The suggestion that this set of high school football audibles helps us confront the Holocaust is just a bit much. But no, I don’t mean to be insulting or an ass about it to a fellow Georgian, so- Peace.

I wonder who their opponent was? Trivializing the Holocaust with audibles is stupid. I am sure the investigation found more evidence of anti-Semitism or he would not have been fired. This grabbing onto the phrase cancel culture to hold onto things that ought to be gone is wrong.

Well over 1 million words in the English language. And the audible lottery wheel just happened to stop on “Auschwitz”? At a specific moment in time when anti-semitic conspiracy theories like “Jewish space lasers” are making a comeback?

Stupidity will get you fired every time. And sure, there was probably some rampant stupidity along the reaction spectrum as well.

I’m just tired of being told I have to choose between the lesser of two Dumbs. I really don’t.

To all on here defending this coach maybe you should read up on the histories and the differences between Auschwitz and Omaha, Nebraska. And yes Muttley since you are clueless Auschwitz is where many Jews lost their lives so there is loads of anti-semitism that also make it a fireable offense to encourage kids to use the word as a football audible.

Yeah, the words “dreidel” and “rabbi” probably would passed by themselves, but when you add in the word “Auschwitz,” well, friend, you have just used a word that can’t really be seen in any other way than anti-Semitic and you have just completely changed the way the other words are going to be viewed as well. Auschwitz is not a word with multiple definitions. The only meaning for the word is to identify the most notorious of the Nazi death camps in the Holocaust. I don’t even really want to know what kind of play the “Auschwitz” audible checks the team into.

Hogbody, I’m glad you aren’t offended by it but I don’t think that it would really tax anyone’s mind to understand why a lot of people would be and are. And as ASEF says, more than just being antisemitic, this is also just really stupid. You’re literally telling a teenager to go to the middle of a field in front of the community and yell the word at the top of his lungs and not expecting anyone to notice or care or be concerned/offended – that’s stupid.

Tykee Smith is no joke. That kid is a straight up baller and future high draft pick. He would instantly bolster our defense. Understands what our DB coach wants has put up ridiculous numbers and is a 3rd team all American safety as a sophomore. I’ll be surprised if he is not on our roster this summer. We’ve got 4 spots to use. He should be one of them.

Money, youth, and freedom without the experience to handle it and no “Adult” oversight. There are tons of stories like this, Johnny Manziel comes immediately to mind.
This type of thing is one of the nagging thoughts hanging around NLI reform. Is it the right thing to do? Yes. Will it be good for the players? Mostly. Will you have stories like this at the college level? Yes.
Of course, if weed was legal Isaiah wouldn’t have had to run. I can stack cases of beer in the bed of my truck and cruise all over town. No crime there unless I’ve got a cod-cooler or have partaken before I’m behind the wheel.
Anyway, I hope he gets himself squared away. I’d like to see a team take chance on him, with the caveat he gets some help.

Kind of like the attention Isaiah’s getting. For every Isaiah there’s a high draft pick with a modest signing bonus the turns it into an opportunity, David Pollock for example.
I just hope Wilson gets his act together before it’s too late.

Number 1, blaming weed is about as dumb as it gets. How many millions of people get high across the country right now and don’t ever act this way?

While it could be an addiction issue, and I don’t count that it because unlike what High Times told us for decades, you can become chemically dependent, aka addicted to weed, in the same way you can become addicted to coffee or cigarettes or cocaine or shit, even food or sex, at the end of the day it still comes down to the individual.
