One thing binds the SEC East.

Vapid slogans.

While they’re at it, maybe they can replace “Sandstorm” with this.

Yeah but is there a Christmas version of Sandstorm? I think not.

Also pretty certain that there isn’t an Unplugged cover of Sandstorm by this little band from Athens. I couldn’t find the first cover version.

I’d rather listen to the sound of worn out brake pads cutting into a rotor than Sandstorm. Nails on a chalkboard, a cat hollering that it wants something at 3 am, any Florida-Georgia Line song, any of these things are preferable to Sandstorm.

So they stole Maximum Effort from Deadpool and then there’s Love Your Brother which I guess is from Jesus?

I mean, it ain’t Attack the Day, but it ain’t the worst, either.

Here’s the thing about Sakerlina: They have so many disadvantages going for them:

Their school is in easily the second-worst college town in the SEC in the second-worst state in the SEC.

They don’t have any tradition of winning anything to fall-back on in the lean years because almost every year in their entire football program’s existence has been lean.

Their stadium boils at over 100-degrees for pretty much every September game and most October games.

Their “little brother” suddenly grew 6-inches and put on 30 pounds of muscle and started kicking their ass on the regular.

Their mascot is a chicken. The most popular meat in America; delicious when fried.

… where was I going with this? 😂🤣😂

Yeeeeah, those cocks like to live in that 6-8 of last 14 years and hang their hat on the debacle that was 2019. However the reality is 52-19-2 and that’s as good as it’s gonna get for those scumbags.

I hear you, but I live an hour north of Columbia and I have to say, living in an area where I can go everywhere I need to on two lane roads is nice. Weather is pretty good too, oddly enough, better than Columbia. It sits in some kind of basin/geo feature and from there south is just different somehow. I like living in the state.

You’ll find me at Cafe Du Monde drinking my coffee black and stuffing my face with a plate full of hot, fresh beignets buried under a mound of powdered sugar.

…after you beat off all the tourists!

My go-tos in NOLA: a sazerac at Napoleon House, a oyster po-boy at Parkway, aforementioned beignets, a frozen Irish coffee from Erin Rose, and on my way out of town two whole Muffelettas for the road from Central Grocery.

I haven’t been since the Texas Sugar Bowl. A spring break trip to take the boys there last year was cancelled by Covid. We were going to really hit the Midcity haunts on that trip.

For the 2007-08 Sugar Bowl against Hawaii, and classmate and I were stumbling drunk around the French Quarter throwing and gathering beads among a mass of Dawgs and Hawaii fans when we went down a side street because a mounted officer was there and then noticed a literal hole in the wall selling po boys.

I don’t remember the name, I don’t remember how to get back, just the general area it might have been, but maaaaaaan… that was the best po boy I ever had. From a literal hole in the wall. Just a guy, in a hole in the wall, selling po boys to passerby’s. It was so damn good.

Nothing at all wrong with South Carolina, especially outside of Columbia…

Columbia is garbage, but the state of South Carolina is a lot better than Mississippi (obviously), Arkansas, and Missouri on the strength of Charleston alone.

Personally would take SC over Alabama also, but ‘Bama does have Mobile and the coast as redeeming features so your mileage may vary I guess. Charleston is much better though.

So what’s the worst college town and state in the sec?

Also as a native Georgian and adopted north Carolinian I always made fun of South Carolina calling it a third world country, so obviously because fate has a sense of humor I moved there and now williams brice is much closer than Sanford stadium. So now I’ll have to try and get tickets every other year to that cauldron of a stadium.

Worst college town is Starkville. Worst state is Mississippi.

AL has Gulf Shores, which even though Charlotte is great, Gulf Shores and Mobile are like a cleaner, mini-New Orleans.

        LA has New Orleans.

        UGH.

I have been to college station though, but not columbia west. I am told columbia west is ok.

I’ve always had a good time in Columbia, but I’ve got people there who are super-well connected and take good care of me when I visit. I’m guessing my experience is a lot different than most people.

Bucket-list is to get to all the SEC stadiums (except The Swamp) at some point. I need Mississippi State, Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas A&M. I’ve been to damn Aggie Bonfire (in the early 90’s) but never a game at Kyle Field. SMDH. I was planning to hit Mizzou in 2020, but that got 86’d obviously.

2022 is going to be pricey: Oregon at MBS, at Mississippi State and at Mizzou… and I’ll probably try to get to Kentucky, too. Damn, I hope we’re good.

C’mon people now, smile on your brother….having each other is what they’ll have after the first game, after the sixth game and after the 12th game…that’s it, with the student athletes boom left there plus the sc recruiting prowess, all they’ll have is each other, in 4 years the staff will change and the newbees will come up with some new dead chicken soup slogan for their soul….

So to be fair every slogan is kind of lame and kitschy unless you’re winning. You don’t think chopping wood, attack the day and physicality!!! sounded a lot more stupid in 2016?

You think people wouldn’t have laughed at john wooden for starting every season by showing his players how to put on their socks? Or the pyramid of success? But recruit a bunch of stud athletes and suddenly you’re “a cutting edge visionary who can keep his guys eyes on the prize!!!”
